  • eBay Approx 240 Baldock Black Base tips £1000 ono

It's time the forum got some publicity.

I've decided I'm going to sell all my tips as a collection, or 'part' collections, rather than sell them individually.

    I'll count them 'exactly' tomorrow, but I'm fairly confident that I have just under 100 x 9mm, just under 100 x 11mm, and 50 x 10mm.

If we round it up just for maths, and call it 250, then selling them for £1000 is only £4.00 each.

I estimate these tips to become the most sought after tips on the market, and their cost price to rise above £10 each, and probably more for the rare 'red base' tips, of which I have in the 9mm.

There are only so many in existence, and when they're gone - they're gone.

As numbers dwindle, prices will get higher, and unlike the mass produced tips like Talisman and Moori etc, these tips are no longer in production.

The Baldock Black Base tips are legendary.

Joe Davis scored his first century using one as per his letter:

Proof of numbers, colours, and availability are available upon request. I'll offer them to the forum, and then they'll go on Ebay once the market has warmed up, which it will.

Make a sensible offer now, and get them while they're cheap, then let the profits roll in.

Some players are earning more money in one week than I'll earn in my lifetime, so if you want them ..........

    £1000 or nearest offer gentlemen.

And no ... I'm not joking.

    .................................................. ................................................

Because not everyone can pm people, I've set up an email account where interested parties can make an offer, or discuss, and anyone who wants to discuss will be able to do so in perfect privacy, with discretion assured.

    ******************************

I thought you'd find that email address easy to remember.

All correspondances replied to within 24 hours ( I have a life too peeps).

I WILL GIVE THIS EMAIL TO THE WINNING BUYER SHOULD THEY WANT IT FREE OF CHARGE

    .................................................. ................................................

The tips 'will' go on Ebay if no suitable offers are made, and the auction will not be cheap so get them NOW while you can.

Precise numbers and photographs to follow.

    Promise of sale

I am NOT able to source more tips and these are the ONLY tips I have. I will not sell them under 'any' other name once these are sold, and the winning buyer will have pretty much the market to themselves, other than a few scraps that are floating around.

    * Regardless of how many I have when I count them, I will be keeping '5 tips' for personal use. These will NOT be the 'rare' red base tips. The rest are yours.

    All the best.

Tips in stock available for sale as follows:

      9mm Baldock Black Base = 102

      9mm Baldock Red Base = 11

      10mm Baldock Black Base 50 (Less my 5) = 45

      11mm Baldock Black Base = 92

      TOTAL = 250 tips

I will gladly take 5 x 11mm instead of the 10mm if buyer prefers, giving buyer a full box of 50 x 10mm.

I want to try these tips but not paying £4 a tip when ADR values a box at £5.

If you want to give me a box for £5 then let me know.

Lol. ADR isn't going to value them at £4 each until he gets his hand on some, and then we'll realise why the Scots are reknowned for being tight lol.

Seriously though, you've got to look beyond them as 'just' being a tip.

They're snooker history. You can't buy these tips anymore as they aren't made anymore.

You've seen a few boxes change hand on Ebay cheaply, and are judging your valuation on that. The boxes that were sold on Ebay cheaply were sold by folks without any knowledge of what they had, and bought by folks who had been searching for them.

Even if 100 boxes were available (and I'll put my mortgage on it that there aren't) that would still only be 10 thousand tips available.

How many snooker, pool, or billiard players are in the UK alone, never mind China for example?

Asking for a box for £5 is nothing short of disrespectful sir. Why I should demand you meet me for pistols at dawn.

I can tell you there is currently an offer for the tips at the moment, which falls short of my valuation, but it's a respectful offer all the same.

If you can get that kind of money for them, then lucky for you.

I appreciate the history behind the tips and there not made but I only want to put them on a couple of cues to try them out as playing tips.

                  Good luck with the sale.

£2 per tip ? Lol. I hope you mean as a cost price to a dealer, for all 250 as they won't be going out at retail for less than a tenner soon.

I reckon the reds will fetch £15-20 before the months out, as noone has them, and even I only have 11. Don't know what happened to all the reds.

How do they play ??? have you even tried them at all ??
It only takes a few people to try them out and say they are no good then the rest are worthless.....Or the same people to say they are brilliant and maybe you are quids in
Either way at £15-£20 a tip you would need to be on some pretty strong drugs to think thats a good deal

They have an exellent reputation JRC.
They can't be bad if Joe Davis knocked his first 147 in with them in 1955.

It is a nice little piece of Snooker history and I love the letter but I don't think the tip was responsible for Joe Davis' achievements.

No price deductions for thousands of players that ever played a miscue with these tips then!
