For me personally they are far too light, but even if that's not a problem for you, they are often not near stiff enough to play with. Nice for a casual knock about, but as a main playing cue......forget it.........imo of course.....you may get on fine with one
I was just about to say the very same thing. You say your brothers Peradon isn't up to scratch but believe me most old cues will probably play even worse than that unless you get lucky. I think you need to understand that older cues are mainly for collectors, you rarely see any good players using them.

I know what everyone is saying its just a difference of opinion on how the older cues play and for the lightness of the older cue i prefer the cues to be light so this would benefit me and wouldnt be a factor at all.

I have been playing with my pool mates Old Joe Davis cue and it played quite nice so it is true you can find a nice playing cue out there out of the older cues but it is just finding the right one.

Gazza the cue will be too short for me as i am pushing 6Ft 2" so it would be well short but i wish you the best with the sale of it.

I am looking for any type of cue older cue not just a Burwat Champ that was just an example all though they are a very nice cue.

I have my eye on a Powerglide Connoissuer but i have i been told that these are not the best quality cue out there as there are better ones to spend money on.

I only know of a few older style cues,

        Ye Old Ashe
        Burwat Champion
        Tom Newman 1370
        Powerglide Connoisseur
        Jp Mannock
        Cannon Matchplay

These are some of the better makes of cue i know is there anymore i could look at as still havent made a decision of which cue i could possibly buy at the minute im totally stuck lol
