You mention that you are not in a rush and only want plain ebony butt, so why not just get a new John Parris Classic or Ambassador which is in your price range and you can have it made to order?
The specs you want seem to be fairly standard also?
Are TW or MW cues that much better made than JP cues?Comment

If i'm going to get another cue then i'm leaning towards a Trevor White or Mike Wooldridge cue as the reviews and feedback on here seem to be second to none, with the John Parris ones ive held the butt seems a bit thinner than i'd like. I could have one made by John Parris like you mention but i won't have any idea what the grain will look like until i recieve the cue, at least if someone is selling a cue on here you can see the grain from the close up pics.sigpicComment

I actually thought that when you get one made to order, the reputable cue makers can send you pictures of sample shafts which can show you the grain of the ash for you to choose. Not sure if this is true for John Parris cues though.
I've been looking into getting a cue myself for snooker which I'm deciding to get back into after playing Pool for the last few months.Comment
