nothing much just now mate - can i just say something though. when you think a .5oz lighter is going to make a difference there is something wrong. people get very hung up about weights and lengths etc and to be honest its all rubbish - if you can play you can learn to play with any cue as long as it does the same thing every time.

might be just that cue does not suit you - sometimes a light cue can feel heavy and visa versa - i sold a cue to a pro on sunday who claimed to need 17.5oz he bought one at 16.2oz - just felt better for him.

the balance point plays a big part in how heavy a cue feels in my opinion even if the cues are exactly the same weight.

Yes i agree the balance point on a cue can make it feel heavier / lighter .

I,ve also tried a 58 " cue and it just seems like a javelin .

                          On a more serious note:
For anyone looking to buy a cue - regardless of Ash, Maple, manufacturer, whatever . . . .
Forget all the spec and details, they are only numbers and descriptions
Any cues real worth is when it is in your hand and you hold it out in front of you
If you get a good feeling from there and that transfers onto actually hitting balls with it
Then that is a good cue!

One point to bare in mind is that many decent cues can be transformed into excellent cues by fitting the right type of tip for you
I have seen some great cues play poorly with a cheap or incompatible tip fitted
But transferred into a wand like feel by the addition of a quality properly fitted and shaped tip

Good luck to all in their search

PS I recently had my cue stolen from my car and on Sunday I purchased a cue from Andy Ramsay
Made a 185 mile round trip to go and see Andy with a good friend of mine
I would like to thank Andy for his time
He let me take 6 decent cues to a club 5 miles from his home to try them out
I purchased a TW maple cue from Andy
My friend also bought a TW ash cue and he wasnt even up to get one

I have returned to the approximate weight and balance of my first and original cue (a burwat champion)
I would like to thank the scumbag who blagged my previous view from my car
I am a believer in life that EVERYTHING happens for a reason
Mines is that I feel that I am re-united with my baby
                          Watch out!

                          Thanks Andy

it was interesting the reactions you got from that lighter cue compared with the ones we thought would be the right weight for you eh!
