      • Hi ADR147,
It was not my intention to offend anyone only stating that both cues the Macassar and this one would need to be adjusted so the cost difference would be the same and in my humble opinion is too close to the new cost. It is your choice *not to put the offer to your friend either way I wish you and your friend every success in the sale but my offer will remain the same.*

It's not ADR's concern that you wish to alter the cue so you should meet the cost of that and not him.

          • or just order one from Mike and wait 3 months plus for a cue to your spec's . Good price to save waiting time though .

            • He has Macassar Legend cues in stock at the moment so you could order one and have the specs altered to suit and no 3 month wait.

Of course it would cost a bit more than £500, also more than 20% more than £500

              • I just have one, if you want to do any modification then you have to pay extra on top. But it's worth it, if you hold one on hand then you will know why!
Hope you get one for your happy game!

                • I looked at Mike's site, and is it correct that he charges £50 extra to adjust the weight (from 17 oz which all his cues appear to be)....jeez, daylight robbery

Does seem extortionate to say the least, especially this day and age where you can get alterations by top class cue makers for far less. Would make sense to buy it at normal price then get someone like Mastercraft to make the changes, they would change the whole cue for less than £50, and do as good a job too!

                    • Yes i just cannot believe that he finishes every single cue to 17 oz, then waits for someone to order one at say 18.5 oz and has to start messing about with it, if he does he's stupid
Surely you finish the cue as far as you can, then weight it to suit the order before adding the sd joint, oops sorry MW F1 joint lol
The standard price of his legend cues at £450 is already very high, there is no need to charge £50 extra

                      • I went to his site and changed a few specs on a bulk standard cue and it come to £610 . Still cheaper than other makers .

They only thing i want clarity on is , if the cues are all made to 17oz and i want 18.75oz how is the weight added ?

Thought weight was not added to a handmade cue .

From what I understand, most handmade cues have added weight to get them up to the requested weight.
I would think that nearly all budget machine made cues will have added weights.
I am sure it is difficult to get the weight just right using the shaft/butt/splice/veneers woods alone, maybe a cuemaker will hop in here with some clarifying knowledge
Maybe a butt with multiple/multiple four-splices may need weight reducing measures
                          cheers

I think you will find almost every cue will have some weight added, usually like this

That looks like a nice cue, I've never heard of welsh pool trading cues, any info on them? Many thanks, Will :snooker: Sorry to hijack the thread.

Not many cue makers to be fair Neil, maybe just a couple really. Thing is though if you are buying a top quality cue for that price you'd expect to have the spec to cover different needs. Really I feel Mike knows that his cues aren't going to suit many players so its a false price to make people think that his cues are good value. However when you factor in the changes that the majority of people would need the price suddenly doesn't look such good value afterall. Seems a bit of a con to me, would love Mike to actually justify those prices when other cue makers don't charge a single penny for cues made to spec.

In fact Stu up at Greenbaize will happily alter length or tip size on any of his cues free of charge!
