I would think that nearly all budget machine made cues will have added weights.
I am sure it is difficult to get the weight just right using the shaft/butt/splice/veneers woods alone, maybe a cuemaker will hop in here with some clarifying knowledge
Maybe a butt with multiple/multiple four-splices may need weight reducing measures
cheersStill trying to pot as many balls as i can !

I've already quizzed mike on his prices for adding a butt joint (£30) which I thought was rather high. He argued his point and then decided to put it up to £35! Fair play to the chap I say. People must pay it so why charge less?Unclevit C Brand - CueGuru Tip.

1 piece cues will definitely need to be weighted, natural weight usually anything from around 13-16 oz tops. 3/4 cues tend not to need a weight inserted as the butts are usually solid ebony and the weight of those are usually just right to give an even balance.

On a serious note, I dont know why people keep saying so and so can do just as good a job as Mike...because with all due respect to other cue makers Mike's craftsmanship is really outstanding from my prespective and only may be one or two cue makers can be compared to his standard in my opinion. His cues are also one of the most consistent out here, which is very hard to do.Last edited by poolqjunkie; 1 January 2012, 02:37 AM.
