I know of a few un-numbered JP Ultimates that are still going strong. Also, I know of someone who sent their Ultimate to JP to be lengthened and when he got it back it had a numbered plate.
I think the numbering of Ultimates began in late 1996 - as at this time some customers received un-numbered Ultimates - while a few weeks later my Ultimate which I still use, came down with a number.
A possible reason for the badge looking different and translucent - is because it is a round butt - and therefore the badge has to be set deeper into the wood.Last edited by circle; 6 October 2011, 09:10 AM.

I can assure you all that this cue is legitimate. Yea Blah all you want, I look forward for JP to comment on this cue. Feel free to take these images and send them to him, this is all part of testing before purchasing right?
To be honest, I cannot tell you straight out how old this cue is, but my opinion I would estimate this cue at least 10years old+
Below I attach some new pictures I captured with my phone closeup, and another side by side with my brother's 1 Year old Mastercraft.
There you can notice the cue's ash is distinctively darker. This shows that you cannot judge this cue with another that is fairly new.
I assure you that the badge is real. You can run your hand down the Ebony over the badge and it as flush as running your hand down a woman's backside.
The cue when held feels smooth, when down you a shot and you're feathering the cue, the weight distributed in a way that on a shot the shaft feels stiff but the butt isn't heavy. This is a beautiful cue and to be honest with you is really ****es me off people making comments on this antique.
I also attached some snaps of the slicings, cue tip, various angles.

Thien.
thien, only one poster is claiming it is a fake and this is the guy who presumes he can teach ronnie o'sullivan a thing or two about improving his performance. there are plenty of these yobs around, who think they know it all and can't wait to open their loud mouths to broadcast their ignorance, so i wouldn't get worked up about it. btw. it's a lovely cue you have there.

I never stated this cue is fake. I said I would be extremely skeptical about buying it, as I have never seen a JP ultimate without a number (and I have seen a few, I think the lowest number was about two hundred and something..) I asked andrew if he had any fake badges I can stick on an old cue to turn a good profit. If the cue is genuine, fair enough, not a problem, good luck with the sale. I think it might represent an issue for selling on, as I implied, due to other people like me who haven't known of an ultimate not having a number.
If JP comes on and says its is genuine, fair enough. I just know I wouldn't want to think of buying it until he has confirmed it authenticity, and I certainly wouldn't offer £600 for it.
As for the Ronnie part, I seriously suggest you read the thread again pal.

Please point out where I try to say I could teach Ronnie anything.....

I'm bored of you now.If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

First off I'd like to thank the people who have interests in the cue.
It's in every bodies right to question the cue to all of their extent, especially if your going to pay quiet abit of money for it.
Hence why I took the extra photos to justify people's points and needs.
I had a PM from a person who said to me that some people where only saying that it was nongenuine so that they could press the price, and I can assure you if they offered me such a price on this cue i would refuse to sell and keep it, as it's a god damn good playing cue if it is fake.
Once again Thank you all for your contribution, and let the higher bidder own the title of this antique.
Thien.

such a lengthy reply when i didn't even mention which poster. you associate yourself with the labels "yob", "loudmouth" and "ignorance" for some reason or other?
in that case, i'll refer you to more internet postings with such descriptors if i come across them.

In the words of Bill in Kill Bill - "Kiddo, you ain't kiddin!"............... The words pot, kettle, and black spring to mind.
Finally, we agree. It is a very nice cue. If it is a genuine JP Ultimate, even better for you, but end of the day JP is just a name. A cue doesn't have to be made by JP, MW, TW etc in order for it to be a good cue. If it does the job its supposed to do and the user likes how it does said job, that is all you need!
I'm bored of you now.
