Hello mate. Is "The Purist" in your catalogue? I bought one in the early 1980's and think I paid £42 for it.
Hi Bigmeek yep the purist sure is in there, ill get some pics up soon with photobucket that thread about posting pics was really helpful. The purist was the cue i wanted in 1986 tho it was outta my price range at around £90, im in ireland so it was a good bit more then in punts, had to do with the 1piece mature ash excalibur still using today. Just missed out today on ebay by 2quid for 1piece purist went for £117, nice example dead straight too, lovely classic looking cue.
the nugget I'd be interested in any photos. I think my PURIST was a cheapy machine spliced version. I've seen a couple of different badges and think maybe there was a hand spliced version which could have been more expensive. Have a look at the attached and see if any of them look familiar. ( Second photo is not great quality. Took it with my mob camera).
Hey Bigmeek as far as i know the purist was always hand spliced tho i could be wrong. The first pic of yours shows the 80`s purist, dark mature ash shaft, plain ebony hand spliced butt and maple nameplate. This is the same type that i lost out on today on ebay. Your second pic has a nameplate thats like the 70s-maybe 1980 style, ive seen a few other powerglides of this vintage with this style plate. Il try and post a link here
Thanks nugget. I bought my Purist in 1983 for about £42 so I think it would have been machine spliced for that sort of money. Maybe that's why the badge is a bit different? The badge on the cue in your catalogue does look a bit more classy.
