Not too sure on that, the 2 that i had, the red badged one looked like a separate metal enameled badge, and the brown one i didn't think was a transfer, cally has this cue now, maybe he could have a closer look

If its me you cant understand sorry i mean this is the first Connoiseur that i have seen with no badge or transfer so i dont know what colour is mean to be where the transfer or badge should have been maple or black.

            Not sure man...

This wouldn't have had the red badge being a later one would it?

And the badge on the 'other' powerglide connies int ebony/black...

They would have been ebony on the reps trev made but not on the original connie.

So the originals would have a maple butt end like mine you are saying.

No, a red badge would have been there if it was an old one..

But this being a later connie i dont think it would have had the red badge?

I don't get the maple thing ya on about really..

If it had a red badge it would have had a red badge, no maple..

And if it had the darker badge, again.. it would not have been maple..

The 'transfer' you refer to is white...

Yeah im confused as well now lol so going to leave it dont really know what to say as i was told it was an original when i got it from oldschool but there are some doubts about it so will have to let the bidding decide.

                    Nobody disputing it's originality bud...

The connies are Just not badged as you mention.

The darker badges just don't rub off to leave bare maple.
(the 'badge bit' is a piece of dark timber... maybe a darker piece of rosewood or sim) Not coloured maple with a sticker/transfer)...

IMO it's just been slightly damaged around the butt/badge at some stage of it's life and had to have that re'done. that's all.

Pity it wasn't done in a darker wood eh...

Thats spot on cally as far as i know too, the red enamel badge being a 70s to early 80s, then the badge from early 80s or so onwards was indian rosewood so this wouldnt rub off to reveal anything lighter underneath. The later connies in the early 90s had no signature as rex williams and his brother ken i think parted ways as the company was taken over or something like that. Maybe the later cues had a cheaper maple nameplate with a darker transfer on top for costsaving or possibly omewhere along the way the original rosewood one was lost and replaced with maple. Nice cue tho!

I did say it was a later example and yes I have seen red badges and Indian Rosewood with transfers and didnt Hendrys original have a metal plate.Connoisseurs were made for some time , 15+ years as far as I know, so perhaps this is just a pattern not seen before or it could be a repair , as has been suggested. If someone wishes to put it back to what they consider " original " thats up to them.I am convinced that it is original.

Maybe as people are suggesting the latest ones made with out the signature were made like this or some sort of repair has been made but other than that the cue is perfect in everyway. Before the refinish the cue was a very good example one of the best i have seen but the bade/transfer missing. Im pleased with the outcome of the refinish by Robin Cook top man.

The bidding on the cue is going well but not exceeded the reserve price yet which i think is a fair price to not let it go.

Anyone interested i might consider a buy it now private message any offers you have.

                            Thanks Matt

I'm the current top bidder but as I've already put in my top bid and it's still not met your reserve, as the Dragons would say, "I'm out."

                              Good luck with the sale.

its gotta be worth more than £52, any handspliced cue should be worth more than that
