WHY? You know their price before you choose to use them.

I've handed over ~40 this weekend in the two sales I've made, and consider it value for money.

As mentioned if you dont want to pay, there's loads of free ads! You choose to use ebay because they've invested in the marketing to make it the largest site, whereby you get the best prices. I dont see why anyone has any right to complain about their fees if they choose to use their service?

I understand what you are all saying I was just saying if anyone on the forum wanted to buy the cue i would rather sell it them but as the bidding has now gone over my reserve the auction will last till the end now.

So if anyone from the forum decides to bid on the cue let me know its at £100 at the min im thinking the cue go for around £120 and i would be happy with that price as well seen them sell for like £250 the last couple that were listed.

          Heres the link again.

Yes, realistic level, one which is proportionate to the value of the item sold. When Ebay are removing maybe 10% of a final total, AND making Paypal compulsory as a payment option, it can and does add up to an amount which could be regarded as unrealistic at times.

No, it's not the ideal way to go about selling anything, to place a listing, and then sell outside that listing even when there may be bids on it. However, it's understandable that people will take advantage of Ebay to promote or advertise something, only to make a transaction outside Ebay to avoid what 'many' would consider excessive fees.

Ebay appears to have a similar mindset to solicitors and estate agents, only they arguably do even less than estate agents do for their fee.

bang on trev, ebay fees are just plain robbery. you have to set your item high just to break even, the final valuation fee is the killer

I've told you once before, my bid is NOT £52, but as my maximum bid is less than your reserve then the current bid shown is £1 more than the next highest bidder.

think it will sell mate, prob might just go over 100. another flaw of ebay, the guy who bid £100 retracted it then bid again of £74. i think if you retract a bid on something you shouldnt be allowed to bid again. another example of people manipulating the site to try and get things cheaper. then people wonder why people pull things off it and take an offer

if you bid a max of 100 it will still only go x amount over the previous bid so if it was 52 it would have gone to say 53 unless the previous bidder put in a top bid of 100 then it would tell you to bid 101

The cynic in me says that someone bid to find out what your reserve was , something I believe that once you set it you cant change it ( the reserve that is).I agree with mattyshinobi and believe that over bidding to discover reserve prices , while not strictly against the rules, should be banned. Now everyone watching knows your reserve and will bid accordingly, I have seen cues go for reserve+ £1 before and that is plain wrong. An auction should be an auction and everyone should take their chance. That cue is worth £140-£150 all day , if only for the quality of the shaft and the multi handsplicing .I also would add to mattyshinobis statement in that the cue has plenty of time left for bidders to get involved so dont worry, I am sure it will reach and exceed your reserve again.
