  • Wanted Peradon 3/4 joint cue

    Hi all.

I'm looking at taking my first plunge into getting a decent first cue, and most people have recommended Peradon as a good first choice. Thoughts? I am therefore looking for a Peradon 3/4 joint cue, preferably with case and extension(s), and am looking at paying around the £60-£100 mark. Is this feasible?

    Thanks.

    Peradon 3/4 joint cue

Depends on the cue choice. Hand or machine spliced etc. where abouts you live? as I know a stockist of peradon who lets you try before you buy
    Always a pleasure

I'm in a similar position but haven't a clue what to look for in terms of brand nor features - I was looking into Peradon as a brand. What's the difference between a hand or machine spliced cue? I'm looking to spend around the £100 mark, many seem to recommended the 3/4 length cues?

I've also taken a look at the craftsman site but they seem to do many types/brands and I really dont know what I should be looking out for!

Anyone care to explain the basics? I'd be very grateful for any advice/tips!

      Cheers

The differences in splicing refers to where the black ebony part of the cue meets the ash or maple shaft, a machine spliced cue will have straight, spike type joins and a hand spliced has more rounded, finger-like joins.
        In this pic
my new Trevor White on the left is hand spliced whereas my Cuecraft (centre) and Peradons are both machine spliced- hope this helps.

          Thanks James,

Makes sense, thanks for kindly explaining that - I was just reading up on this and it seems (no surprises really) that the hand spliced ones are more expensive.

I've played a bit when I was younger but am looking to take snooker up again and just trying to find a decent cue which isn't too expensive but the best I can get on a small budget.

Apologies Knighty, not trying to hijack your thread! - I think we're in the same boat here so hopefully this info is helpful for you also.

Was looking at Peradon as mentioned above however some people seem to think that Master Cue are better, I was looking at the following cue - opinions please? http://www.craftsmancues.com/acatalo...ed_series.html
See the '3/4 Tudor cue' right at the bottom, priced at £89.00
          Thoughts???

          Cheers

Gents, I have a Peradon King for sale, it's hand spliced and at the upper end of Peradons range. I can supply as a cue only for £100 or bundle it with all the extensions and a newish aluminium case for £130 + del.

The cue alone retails at over £200 new, so it is a good deal, really nice condition except some lacquer wear from using a push on extension I presume. Details below. I also have a Powerglide purist that I would sell for £60+del.

                  Hi ste bed,

Cheers for the advice - would you rate these over the Peradon one that I had a link to then? (Peradon 3/4 tudor). Any others you'd recommend at this price point?

                  Thanks

yes i would phoenix cues are good quality cues plus the benifit from buying from craftsman cues is if you cant go to the shop and choose one you can speak to them over the phone dave and simon are very expierenced in cues and they can choose one for you. i just dont rate peradon as good cues i live quite near peradon in liverpool and been many times from the whole shop stock you could probably pickout a few good cues there mass produced so the quality is up down.

i cant realy think of many quality cues under the £100 mark as quality comes with a price. master cue does a machine spliced cue for under £100 there good and there handspliced cue the classic are around 120\130 on the craftsman cues web site. the craftsman 147 which is one of there own cues are around 150 if you can get a bit more try andy travis a member on here he could make you a custom cue for under 200 and are very good quality cues you can read up on him on here. plus he as loads of pics on facebook of his work or see whats selling on here there are a few good trusted sellers on here who will sell you a good honest cue.

I'd actually written the above incorrectly! The link I had was for the Master Cue 3/4 Tudor cue (not Peradon) so I'm guessing these are the ones you're referring to. I really like the look of these too (i appreciate its not just about that though!) and at £89.00 they seem a great price. £200 is way out of my budget unfortunately!

Unless I'm told otherwise (and can get a better cue for my £££ with something else) then i'll most likely go with one of these if they're good.

                      Cheers
