    Hi,

Listed cue 045 to start on ebay at 8pm tonight.

Beautiful cue and plays sweet, had a few frames with it last night and only just got it out the club for potential buyers!

Good luck to her, she's a cracker.

    Jason

PS Really dont want to alter it at all, it balances and plays perfect, so please no chop an inch off merchants.

Play pool for Ambassador A, in Wessex League.
Play at Ambasador club mainly. Few years back was a regular in James Brooks.
              Your local then?

Yeah Green Baize (was James Brooks? I think)

I just did not want to win the auction and then for you to end up see me failing to play with a cue that you took such pride in making :P

My play borders on Cue abuse, my 2.1%% pot success rate and my consistent failure to achieve a higher break than 8!

With you being local, if you wanted to pop in the workshop, see this cue in the flesh or any of the other cues I have on the go then you'll be more than welcome.

Thanks Jason. I'd love to see some work in progress one day, I've always been amazed by the whole process to be honest, most impressively the accuracy of rounding and tapering the shafts. That always sounds the hardest bit, though I suspect maintaining even splicing and other aspects are also significantly harder than I imagine.

More importantly though in the future when the time comes that you decide you want an Apprentice, just let me know!

Planning on trying to taper some and splice some cheaper woods myself at some stage (before I attempt with the real stuff), anyway I should end up with some decent scrap for the wood burner!

Id also like to see some in progress pics or vids of how the splices are laid out, there seems to be such an emphasis on having them dead even at the crossover and the top, and with the amount of cues out there that usually have them uneven at the crossover suggests its pretty hard to get right.

Im pretty sure theyre marked out in pencil, then the shape is planed into the wood before the ebony is glued on, so to have them even at the crossover and at the top the shape thats planed out has to be identical for all 4 so theyre dead even? Not really sure how they get rounded at the top, can't see planing making this shape in the wood or is just naturally how the wood goes after being planed down?

Always been interested in how theyre made, just not much floating around showing the process, robert osborne has a load of pics on his website showing a 1 piece cue being made but doesnt really explain all that much in terms of laying out splicing.
