I think a cue's the same as any other thing people buy or sell.
It's worth exactly what somebody pays for it.
It's not a crime to sell something for more than you paid for it either.
        Just my opinion guys.

Ive sold cues for quite a bit less than what i1ve paid for them , the same as people have made a profit on cues , someimes you buy a cue and think to yourself this is a gem and no matter what ive bought a cracker ( and you just know its special ) and worth more than what you paid for it . Other times you know youre on a downer .

I think the majority of members are happy in making a small profit , its only the minority who want to rip people off .

Jim I agree with you on the point of pricing of modern cues, they should de-value with age , but stejohn was right, people will pay what they perceive to be the " going rate", annoying though that is.Cueman , I will ask one question, " what if the maker ceases production" ? When Hunt stopped , prices went up,when MW,TW,Coutts,Glovers,Robin or Kev Muncaster stop making cues expect prices to rise.Is this now because of the cues collectable nature, even if the cue is only say a month old when the aforesaid stop working ? Hotpot , you are right , quality will out every time and people will pay for quality, perceived or real, every time. The other question that could be asked is " what makes a cue collectable and what determines value " ? If "bigandyg" will forgive me for using him as an example , Andys cues had a badge "est 1984" (less than 30 years ago) he retired (90s I think) , his cues are getting more and more scarce and are now increasing in value and yet how many people in the real world (not TSF members) know his work (search the threads folks).Who sets the value on a now defunct/retired (sorry Andy) cue makers work.Value by association is another area I am interested in, for example , Andy made one of Graham Dotts cues, Kev Muncaster made John Higgins cue, does the " World Champion " association with the player increase the value of the cue.ADR had a cue recently, Tony Meos Parris, was that cue so valuable because it used to belong to a professional and was a playing cue or because of the Parris cues association or both.Value to me is always subjective and hard to predict but it is a fascinating subject ( Rant Over).

The reason I didnt put a price is because I had no idea how much it was worth. I dont appreciate you saying I am trying to get more money for my cue than it is worth because im not.

I have only just seen your comment, dont come on this forum much. What you said about me trying to selll my cue for more than its worth is not true infact I find it very offensive! I didnt put a price because I had no idea what kind of money it would fetch. Perhaps I should have stated that in the advert but you shouldnt go accusing me of trying to scam people ( well thats the way it came across )

On the one hand a cue is worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it but on the other if you can get a perfectly good custom built handmade by some of the people on here for a couple of hundred or so, then Parris and Co cues are not worth any more than this, they're false prices.

Not only are they second hand cues, there are loads more Parris cues coming on the market every day - it's not like antique cues which are getting rarer - and these days they are made by employees rather than the man himself so you're just paying for the badge really.

The bottom has fallen out of the old cue market from what I can see so I can't see how new cues aren't like cars, ie, they're worth a lot less once you get them out of the showroom.

                            Each to their own though.

I Agree at the end of the day a cue is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. I play with a glover cue and I see them sell on e-bay for more than I payed for mine 5 years ago. It is all relevant.
