Selling a Robert Osborne 3/4 Black Plate (**now has a Green Plate In It**)
Cue Size - 56 1/2"
Tip Size - 9mm
Weight - 17 1/2 oz (approx, weight has never bothered me)
Butt Size - 29 1/2mm **ROUNDED**
3/4 (Osborne) Joint @ 17"
Balance Point @ 18 1/2"
I've had this cue for about 6 months, it was originally plain Ebony/Ash, I sent the cue to Robert Osborne himself to get it re-finished, get the tip size to 9mm, and got 4 Cocobolo splices (8 1/2" long) with thin white veneers on the butt and the butt rounded, I just think this makes any cue feel more solid, as well as a bit more individual!!
Robert put the Green plate in it and can confirm that it was originally a Black Plate. I don't know if Robert can only put a Green Plate on a cue which has been adjusted, added to this, I'm a Celtic fan, so the "green" bit doesn't bother me (sad I know)
The cue shaft itself is as you would expect from a cue of this standard, poker straight grain, 5 "chevrons on the shaft, the top 1 perfectly placed just before the ferrule, it's also stiff, hardly any movement in it, if any at all (I don't try too hard to bend them to fend out!)
The cue is immaculate, no dints, scratches etc. obviously, as i've only just had it re-finished.
I treat my cue like my baby, never thrown, snapped, or even banged any of my cues on the ground in frustration (no matter HOW frustrated!!)
I can't say anything more about the cue, other than it really is a class piece of work, and is probably 1 of the best cues i've ever owned.
The only reason i'm selling it is, i'm a pool player, very rarely play snooker, and this cue is probably a bit wasted on me and would probably be more deserving of somebody who would get the proper use out of it, thus appreciating it more (similarly like an I-Phone is wasted on me, I just phone and text!!!) added to this, i've only just had my old cue back, it's the cue I won all of the Pool Tournaments over the years, and just feels right
I paid £500 for the cue and also paid £160 to get the work done by Robert Osborne.
I also saw how much Robert sold his last batch of Green Plates for, in no time at all!
I'm not looking for a kings ransom, for what, at the end of the day, is "only a cue"
I've already had an offer of £600 for it i'm looking for £650.
1 thing I WILL consider, (if it helps anybody out) if somebody has a good 1 piece case ( North Wales, Cheddar, Stamford etc Patchwork) I will take something like this as part exchange.
A case + £450-£500, (not being funny, as long as I like the case, which, if its patchwork, I will!!!)
(OBVIOUSLY OPEN TO NEGOTIATION DEPENDING ON VALUE OF CASE!)
Please Message me with any other reasonable offers. I WILL be selling this cue in the next week.
It will be posted, recorded delivery (to anywhere) in the tube Robert posted it back to me in.
Photos will be posted either later tonight, or tomorrow.
Thanks
