I have an old Thurston which is at least 70 years old . It is maple ,hand spliced and has been made into a 3/4 cue by Peradon . Not sure how much I'd accept for it , but if interested , make me an offer . It also comes with a hand crafted leather case . It was previously the personal cue of the owner of Alliance Snooker Co. and he told me that Thurston were the cue makers for the Royal Family and as the cue butt has the Prince of Wales emblem on it , it might have a royal connection , no idea if this is true . I could post some pics if you would like . Cheers

Damn thee cue butchers!
Sorry my fault I should have added that I only collect 1pce cues or those that were made originally in 2pce like the secret joint cues.
If I were ever elected prime minister people would do time for cue chopping! Bob Akers seems to have got to every old cue I see around where I live, so to me he's like the anti-Christ! (He's a nice guy really.. I'm sure).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have two burwats, one in which i got from andy travis and it has just right amount of stiffness to make it a good playing cue. its my main cue at the minute, i dont intend to change the specs of either of them. has have learned a lesson few years back when had a burwat thinned to a 9mm tip, from a 10mm. something i regret till this day, but to 3/4 an old cue is scaralidge and unforgivable.

I was only joking about Bob I've seen him a couple of times at the county pool, these Perspex joints are really distinctive so I always curse him when I see one.
A lot of them belong to old fellas, I've spoken to a few and they have the view they're never going to part with it and it'll stay with them for life so aren't bothered about value implications and it was don't a long time ago when the cues wasn't particularly old or rare. Can't argue with that.
On the other hand I've seen old cues for sale on here (or missed out on eBay), inquired about them only to find they've sold already - then they pop up a month later jointed shortened and generally ..'d along with the comment "I prefer my trevor white" - now that does irk me.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
