  • Wanted Wtd: 8 Ball Pool Cue

Hi just started playing pool and looking for a cue. Not looking to spend loads approx £100 ish. Would also be interested in case if you have both for sale (at extra cost). I would love to post up ideal spec etc but haven't really got a clue as just play with the cues they provide at the pool bar (In West Mids). From research on the net an 8-9mm tip is about all i know. Any tips of info is much appreciated.

    Cheers

Hi, some more specs would be good. I've got about 5 one piece ash shafts, all around 57" weighing about 17 to 18ozs. Some are 8.5mm and 2 are definitely 8mm. The 8.5mm one is a James Butters which Dave at Mastercraft took down. It really is a beautiful cue but I'm using 8mm now so no use to me any more.

I would love to give more spec but simply don't know. I currently use whatever cue they give me along with the balls and i have no idea what size tip they are, the length or weight (could be different each time). I am basically looking for a first cue which i am hoping will be better than what i currently use but then it will also give me a base for working out what i may want in the future. Any help / offers much appreciated.

Hi, most 8 ball players use between 8-9mm. Reckon the cues you've been using are 9-10mm and are one piece. if you're looking to play for a team then maybe a 3/4 cue would be easier to carry. I hump my one piece case around and sometimes it's a pain. Most pool players have cues between 55 and 57"s. Longer cues can be a bit tight in pubs where the tables don't have a lot of room.
Can you remember any good cues you've used? It might give you a better idea of what you feel comfortable with.

There are couple of things you need to check before buying a cue like straightness, feel, weight, grip, tip size, brand etc. I would suggest you to check it online and compare the features before buying.

                              Hi mate,
I've got a 1 piece O'Min Perfect cue, that i've been using for about a month, is in as new condition.
                              Tip size 8.4mm
                              17 1/2 oz
Ebony Butt with a Thuya Burr splice.

I've also got a 1-piece North Wales plain black patchwork case.

I was looking for £150 for the cue, and £150 for the case, but, seeing as i'm selling for Christmas Cash, i'd do both for £250.
