  • eBay ^^^^^ Hunt & O'bryne Black Plate ^^^^^

    Hi all,

I was lucky to have bought this Hunt & O'Byrne black plate http://www.thesnookerforum.co.uk/boa...e(black-plate) from Richy (cue maker of MAC cue) two years ago. The cue is around 20 years old and is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot put more concise descriptions than what had been posted eariler by the original seller “The cue is ash shaft and black ebony butt. For its age it is in stunning condition. The cue has a nice responsive shaft with very low deflection. The butt at the plate used to be round but now has a small flat put on it (done professionally by Robert Osborne) just to make it easy to feel the right way up with arrows. The back grain has no arrows and feels smooth in your bridge hand.” Recently the cue was sent to Trevor for a refurbishment and altered to 57” and 9.5mm tip size.

I am in need to look for a good home for this beauty because I have got another O'Byrne recently so one must go and share with others. I would like to do a part exchange with similar spec decent quality one piece cue and money offer is also welcome. Any questions feel free to ask and pm me your offer.

Here are specs of cue. Thanks

    Length:57"
    Weight: 18 3/4oz
    Tip size: 9.5mm
    Butt Diameter: 28.5mm
    Jointed at 18" (above splices)
    Balance point at 16".

I trust the words from "The Doctor", very simple, he said "it is genuine".

The Robert Osborne work on it will explain the badge . As he would not have been able to use the same badge on the flat .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

You should,nt say its a fake unless you have any evidence to back up your theory . Cues do get slightly altered so that may be the case here .

                The joint is correct .

The problem is that it greatly devalues the cue in my opinion , when it has been altered and the badge replaced .

Not right to make assumptions [ Agree with Hotpot ] but people look at the badge and it does not look right .

Still a nice looking shaft .

Pretty obvious by now this is our favourite gibberish posting ruski back with yet another account.

Just as a matter of interest but why did H&O make round butted cues when cues with a flat on the butt were the standard? Matter of preference i suppose but they did seem to make them on stock cues without being specifically requested, these days its usually a custom order to get a round butt on a cue.

From what i read he just went in and bought that cue off the rack, so they were already producing them with either flats or round butts.
