i can do without the s**t stirers on here that have nothing better to do than cause trouble when all i am trying to do is make a living and keep the trade of the traditional way of cue making alive
Guilty and should be punished for selling a fake cues. Misleading people by confirming they are hand made by Will Hunt. You are lucky that i didn't bought this cue of you other wise i would be on my way down to get my money back plus interest on top. Very dodgy man and he knows from day one that this cue was fake. Rip off ****, shame on you and i cant believe some one can buy cue from cue after this mess.

      • i Don't think too many people would mind shelling out that kind of money if they knew they could sell it for same amount or more. As it stand with the rebadged cue selling it is a problem.

personally if i were buying it to play with i would rather have one of the new ones. In the end the market will dictate what they are worth and i would not mind betting that the new ones will also go up in value over time.

I agree with this, I think people might like to see photos of their cue being made from an oversized dowel with all stages of splicework etc. But I also imagine that you are more guarranteed of quality (and playability) that reflects the price if it is selected at the basic completed cue stage, prior to the splicework etc. And for this reason you are more likely to get that quality from Thailand/China where you can have the man power and expertise to source shafts, make the basic cues, grade them and then sell them to retailers/cuemakers according to what they want. I'm not saying that this is what happens but I think it makes economic sense. It was Uncle Vit a while ago who mentioned a workshop in Thailand producing 400 cues a month for UK makers, some to be completed with badges etc, others not. I guess you just have to establish youself as a 'maker' and make the right friends to find out who supplies these.

Yes he said "hundreds at a time" actually, not 400 (my mistake) but it is a lot of cues. I know what you mean about the lacquer but it sounded like he was talking about another workshop exporting these cues, not his own.

                • It's still quite possible that some people have got it completely wrong about these cues !...they look like Will Hunt cues to me !!

Some have said Will Hunt doesn't have a workshop, so how could he have made these cues?...Well it wasn't so long ago he was working with Robert Osbourne, and quite why he decided to leave I'm not sure, but who is to say that he didn't take a bunch of his own cues with him when he left?

Maybe he simply didn't have the opportunity to finish the cues off until last year?...until someone gets to speak to Will personally about it, then it's all just idle speculation !!

                  • It's not idle speculation, will hunt has told Dave coutts (who he hand delivered some cues to) the cues are made abroad then he finishes them

Oh I see, and who was it that Dave Coutts told that information to?...Has Dave been here on the board and announced that, or did he speak to someone on here?

You will have to forgive me I haven't read the entire thread, so don't know the finer details.

lol ok Jim !...well that member has now sold his cue anyway, so maybe folks can finally rest about this.

I'm pretty sure they must be good cues thou, because Will wouldn't put out anything he wasn't happy with, of that much I'm sure !
