I think it'd be wrong to speculate till someone gets told personally from Dave himself or on here, there could be a logical explanation, maybe Will has been making some cues in someones workshop..?Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

The question whether Will Hunt had made these was asked plenty of times on this thread http://www.thesnookerforum.co.uk/boa...-and-will-hunt
and Dave Coutts never answered the question so make of that what you want.Put me off buying one though.

all cues will be accompanied with will hunt certificates stating a genuine handmade cue by will hunt, for those that have purchased already certificates will follow separate from cue in a special envelope so that the dont get bent in post, just awaiting my delivery of the envelopes!!!

Here are the facts of my dealings with Coutts Cues regarding Will Hunt Cues.
Dec.4/11 - I telephoned Dave Coutts to enquire about the Will Hunt cues that he had for sale on his website. He said that he had one 1 pc. cue left. I asked him if it was made by Will Hunt and he assured me that it was. Therefore, I said OK I would take it and sent payment in full the same day. Cue arrived Dec.8/11.
Later on, rumours started on TSF that the cues were either partially or not at all made by Will Hunt. Naturally, I got concerned.
Feb.26/12 - I emailed Dave and told him about the rumours that I had heard and that I bought from him because he assured me that Will Hunt made the cue. I asked him what he thought of my situation.
Feb.29/12 - Dave emailed me - Quote "we do not know anything about the ins and outs of the cues, will Hunt personally came to us with the cues and certificates. i suggest that you contact him directly to ask these questions".
Now, I have 520 pounds(about $850 Canadian dollars) invested in the cue and minibutt, shipping, duty and taxes. I think I have a right at this point to at least know the truth.
Before the sale, the cue was made by Will Hunt. After the sale, Coutts doesn't have a clue about the cue. I feel that I have not been dealt with straight up.
Having had a second batch of cues now from Will Hunt, I wonder if he has a clue now?
I see that Louise Sheldon has now made a reply on this thread, but not to the question that everyone would like to have a solid answer to.

You decide. The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

on collecting the cues from Will Hunt himself last week i discussed the making of his cues and asked if he was making them all himself , he has been honest enough to say to me that he has some guys working overseas for him part making the cues which he finishes off, the misconception appears to be that they are handmade (i use this term loosely as there is a great debate as what actually constitutes a handmade cue) to Wills specifications and seal of approval so in effect the badge and certificates are correct. (this is the first time we have been aware of this) Also in hind sight the price reflects this fact. i suppose if he was making them all himself he would want at least double. before you all start jumping on the band wagon, let me tell you this problem turns out to be more rife than you realise but for ethical reasons i cannot disclose who does what cues, but what i will say is that if the badge does not say handmade BY then it probably isnt. for my own cues they will only say handmade BY me if i have made them totally, the other cues that i do are cues that are finished off by me and these are named diamond, crystal, ruby and emerald, premier which are number and finished to customers specificiations and choice of woods and then the platinum which i use the best ash and make cues to whatever design i fancy in order to keep my inspiration going as i dont often get the chance to do what i want as all my handmade cues are all straight out to order - dave coutts

As the seller it his his job to be fully aware of the facts of the items he is selling and advertise them in a honest and reputable manner.
In Louise's post she states some of the work is done overseas. We can only speculate this to mean mass produced in China. A mass produced cue from China costs in the region of £80 - £100 with a case and extensions. So what price a certificate printed off a computer and a badge? And the finnishing bit is ?????? But in this instance, the sales of goods act - which is consumer law for all traders - puts the blame for this situation squarely on his shoulders.
In this instance though, the consumer has waited and put up with his own displeasure for far too long to be entitled to any recompense.
He should have asked for a credit note, a replacement or a refund the second he realised the item was not 'as described'.
I'm sure Dave would have indulged any of his requests. But now too much time as passed and this point is moot.
I imagine any Will Hunt rebrands from this point on will be sold with full disclosure because:
Also in hind sight the price reflects this fact. i suppose if he was making them all himself he would want at least double...

what some of you seem to be asking is for me to grass on my piers but let me tell you if i was to grass which i most definately will not then it would read a bit like the horse meat scandal and turn the cue world on its head, make alot of know it alls look very silly and upset a lot of proud owners of goods cues.
going back a year ago i did not think if the name on the badge actually made the cue or did they just finish them off, but after Will Hunt was strangley singled out last year i did alot of detective work and now know all the answers and believe me i wish i didnt.
but at the end of the day these guys are still finishing off top quality cues.
as Will is uncontactable he has given me permission to state on our website that his cues are part made and this will go on our website over the next day or two
