I've got to know Crispian really well over the past year and a half as wee both have the same passion and balls to go follow our dreams in a career most ppl would love to do who love snooker/pool.
Crispian has took the decision upon himself to now focus on cues as its his main passion and simply what he wants to do rather than cases which we all know are incredible quality.
Some people on here simply do not know the costs, time, effort and skill levels involved in cue making.
I've never seen anyone make snidely comments on his cases ever on here ever.
Crispian has in the past told me the hours involved and material costs in cases and believe you me its alot for not a great profit.
I was shocked to be honest and told him his cases should be around £400 to make it worth while.
It just seems people want 5 perfect arrows, all perfect splices which all must be even and it's probably gotta play well too for like £200.
Another thing you have to consider is his skill level which I'd say is top notch.
So compare that with a mechanic or a plumber as he pointed out and I'd say the skill levels are even higher and plumbers can charge what they like.
Crispian is simply sharing his work on here with snooker lovers or haters lol
As for promoting your business on here well that's down to Ferret who administrates the forum,
I see nothing wrong with it or what he's asking for.
Keep up the good work mate.

I love your work mate and think the prices are very reasonable too!!

I treasure both the case and my current playing cue (that were both made by you)!!

        Keep up the good work!!

        : )
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
        I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Take my hat off to Crispian and other cue makers here you,re work is top notch and something to be admired . What someone asks for a cue , case etc ( fedia exempt ) is i,m sure asking for something that reflects the quality of the end product that also reflects the time and effort put into it .
I have no idea of the set up costs , material costs , hours spent sourcing the right products and making itso would never question the margin value . Is it right to make a comparison with Parris etc regarding prices , yes he is a well established cue make and rightly so but compare the quality of some of these cues and then decide .

A cues worth what ever a BUYER is willing to pay for it!
This place is full of window shoppers/lickers hijacking threads, it's a for sale thread not frigging points of view!
No one is listening until you make a mistake!

My post was in no way aimed at being a personal dig at Chrispian unlike the foul mouthed post that he hurled back in my direction. If you post pictures of a cue for sale on ebay folk will take a look and decide wether its for them or not and the cue will not be open for discussion. Bidders will bid what they feel its worth to them.

If you are going to post pictures of a cue for sale on an open forum then folk will comment as to wether or not they like it. As a cuemaker if you love all the pats on the back and everyone praising your work and telling you how wonderful you are, you must also accept that at times someone wont like one of your cues or a choice of woods or venners you have selected.

My post in no way insulted your craftsmanship, just that in the photos (which is all I can see) the peice of maccassar looks like it has a very poor grain pattern that does the cue no favours, to put it in your words I thought it looked **** on the photos and still do.

Re: the pricing. As was rightly said a cue is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Good luck with your sale I hope it achieves your asking price. Still think the butt looks **** tho

I was always taught that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and without doubt this is a beautiful cue to most, but as always not all. We are all the same when it comes to buying anything we want the best quality at the lowest price! If we were to pay cue makers by the hour for the hours it takes to make a cue I for 1 could not afford it. I have purchased a number of cues from various top makers including Crispian and can honestly say that the quality of finish was perfect , but as you all know the looks are only part of the equation the main part is playing which can only be achieved after purchase and what you may find unsuitable to the next it’s a magic wand. Carry on Crispian and although I like having the price advertised with the specs it may be best just to have them pm rather that complain in an open forum on price (which is totally the sellers choice)

I too thought that the forum was intended for private advertisers. I have listed tables in the past on behalf of clients only to have them removed. Clarification one way or the other would help. By the way I think the cue looks lovely and when you factor in costs not overpriced at all. Too many people on this site equate expensive cue to better play. Not so. Good technique, a bit of ability and hard work are key. Have those three and a rack cue would suffice. A la O'sullivan. Tho it pains me to say that being a Hendry man.

Maybe selling should be banned from the forum for all members ?
I see your point, but to be fair I don't give a toss if the cue sells or not really as I only put it here for a little advertising, as others do in fact, and the more people comment the longer my thread will stay on the font page here on the forum win win really

Any way I to think the Macassar is a little dull too so can't get to suprized by the initial comment, I just thought it would be good to put the pictures to show that the cue was made by me as there seems to be so much talk about Thai cues ! Managed to do that too

It is difficult as a seller to have opinions as you can easily loose business by pissing people off so most will just take it all onboard ( something I may have to learn) but to be fair I am a different flower to most, and will just say it as I see it !

Thanks for all the feedback though

Got quite a bit of work to get on with now so will try making another cue for the forum next month

Look forward to it . I for one enjoy sharing in the cue building stages, even if it probably annoys you,

as I'm sure you'r rather be building cues than taking pictures. Balancing act I suppose . .
