This subject might raise a few eye brows but my intention is to obtain opinion and not upset anyone.
I have been looking recently at purchasing a new cue to play with rather than as a collectors item. I had mentioned that in a perfect world I would love to find a lovely 2nd edition Burwat Champion, Parris, Hunt & O'Byrne or Ye Old Ash.
I kept noticing replica cues of old classics on ebay or various other advertising sites and when I requested the asking price, I was shocked to find out that the replicas were up for sale for more than an original mint condition classic?????
Now don't get me wrong, I have seen some stunning replicas that look incredible. However, there is no replicating that response from a matured Ye Old Ash with that stunning looking shaft. I just can't get my head around Selling a replica for far more than a mint condition collectors piece? It's like banksy or Damien Hirst whipping up a Mona Lisa copy and demanding more than the original by Leonardo Da Vinci hanging in the louvre!
Maybe I just need to take the plunge and try one?
Thoughts?
Kind regards
Chris
