  • eBay Buying & Selling on TSF - The Pitfalls

Having been a TSF member for a while now there are obvious names of other members that one gets a good feel about with regards to their reputatation and honesty, but have any members ever been ripped off when it comes to buying and selling through TSF?

I can understand why they choose to do it this way due to ebay & paypal fees these days. What are the pitfalls and any tips for staying safe when buying and selling through TSF?

I have dealt with a few gentlemen on here but like every forum, there's a few that always let the community down, from memory there was a reputation thread unless i'm thinking of another forum...lol

I remember a while back a JP elite cue that the seller sold to 2 different people at the same time though nobody ever actually got the cue from what I can recall.

lot of member really should start using the itrader feedback rating system this forum and others have to help judge sellers/buyers!
But people don't seem to bother with it which is silly to be honest and only takes 2 mins of your time similar to eBay!
Every deal done on forum should have a comment by both parties recommending or warning of potential dodgy going on.

It certainly does fella just click onto another members name profile and look for feedback score which takes you to itrader page!
Or if in classifieds there should be a number with user name stating how many positve feedback deals done and a percentage score.

Bought and sold a fair few items on here and not a bad experience yet at all. I always try to leave feedback on the itrader thing in the hope others will leave it back for me, but most just don't know what it's all about. Anyway, buying and selling on here is pretty good if you choose the right people to deal with and the right items :snooker:

I have bought and sold on here. Had a bad experience buying twice so far. One came to me with a minor hairline crack and it was from a prominent member here. The second buying experience was a complete nightmare and including calls in to UK police and help from the forum administrator here to get the cue shipped that I paid in advance for. Finally got it sorted though. If you aren't so confident in a transaction, use a 3rd party escrow or a senior board member on here.

I bought my cue from Terry, paid in advance so he could afford his plane tickets to the UK. He handed the cue to me personally at my coaching lesson at the SWSA. Some people you can just trust I guess.

I must admit i'm reluctant to sell on here, but that's due to bad experiences selling in general as some people just complain for the sake of it, ebay and paypal offers some protection from this. But as for buying, I think it's pretty easy to spot those you can trust on here, and if you can't don't risk it, simple as!

Bought and sold few cues , couple of ball sets and other snooker stuff on here and never had a problem. except my mate ordered 1 piece cue for his sons birthday from Dan Shelton, he neither saw the cue nor £60 he paid for it. oh well ... such life.
