  • eBay One piece tony glover hornbeam shaft cue for sale

Bought this a few months back, really is a stunning cue but it just isn't for me.

Has four sets of splices, two of which are jet black ebony, tiger maple and the other which was advertised as snakewood however I believe it to be amboyna burr. Hornbeam shaft fairly stiff and probably the smoothest cue i've ever played with and has a lovely honey golden colour.

In it's previous life it has been lengthened, which was done at the same time as changing it to a round butt. Please see last attached photo for a photo before work was carried out with Tony's badge still on it. He doesn't make badges for circular butts so one was never applied.

Since owning it, I have had the tip reduced to 8.5mm from 9.25mm along with a slight taper. Ferule was changed from ss to brass. The cue was also refinished. All work was taken out by Tony.

    Specs:
8.5mm tip (can lose approx 1.5 inch to get 9.25-9.5mm ferrule)
    58.5"long
    17.1 oz
bp, 20.5"(just below the first splice point)
    28.5mm butt diameter
Has a H&O spirolock butt joint for extensions
    Straight

Looking for around £300, may be tempted with a swap depending on what's available.
    PM me if you're interested

That cue looks identical to one I had here and sold to someone in the UK, although there must have been some more work done on it. I found the hornbeam was a little too stiff for me but it was the smoothest shaft I ever saw.

I would love to try out a pearwood cue to my specs just to see how the shaft plays in comparison to ash and maple.

Yes I believe it is the same cue, some work has been carried out on it as mentioned above. Pretty much the same reason for me, a little too stiff, but by far the smoothest cue I've used.
