My searches reveal the cues are made in Talshan China and mostly sent out via Hong Kong. They are also listed on a site called AliExpress ina bout 5 or 6 formats. There have been 2 sold on ebay in Sept 2013 for around £25 to £35 + P&P of around £30. Both were very similar to this one on offer with the same chevron pattern, I think they also came with a case. (Item 380639397136 refers). I have tried unsuccessfully to get replies from the Weichster (formally CX) cue manufacturers for detals of Makers processes/Materials/Models/Prices+ P&P but they obviously do not want to talk to me due to the direct questions I asked. Cannot understand why as the cues look very nice indeed.

Hi Nobby. Yes Weichster were formallyt CX Cues. As I mentioned in a few earlier threads I bought a few cues recently trying different weights, tip sizes etc till I found one that suited me best. I paid £81.69 for the cue set but then there is a £30 fee from the courier to pay on top of that for customs clearance. I had to pay this extra cost on all three cues I imported as they were all one piece cues. Some shorter 3/4 cues get through customs without any charges.
I stuck a Phoenix medium tip on as soon as it arrived (£4)
So total cost I paid was £115.69.
The cue really is very well made with really good splice work and represents excellent value for the money. Not trying to rip anyone off or make a profit as such, just trying to get back what I paid as I only played a couple of frames with it. The cheaper cues you mentioned were probably 3/4 cues and some of them and the one piece cues had some bad defects either on the shafts or butts, which is why they sold that cheaply.
                    Here's a link to the one I bought. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2811963198...ht_8264wt_1030

Dear Maverick. Rest assured that nobody was alluding to you ripping anybody off, but more pointing out that the price differences in Chinese cues & accessories would even be confusing and misleading to a MENSA candidate & it sounds like your choices have cost you a lot of money. I would also point out that the purchase of cues from these sources are a minefield, and can easily be a losing battle as you are not buying from tested British sources like Chelsworth/GBL/or Craftman cues etc, but from a source unknown & in most cases untried. Is this why most of them do not subscribe to PayPal. I know I got caught with a Woods Cue that fell to bits after about 3 months, never again lesson learned. Not everybody can afford Parris cues or the like, and I feel that these Asian/Foriegn companies (Not all I must say), target such financially restricted buyers. Bargains I submit, especially from abroad are very few & far between. If I see them illustrated, alarm bells ring at once. I ask myself WHY???? Anybody else wish to comment please. I enjoy this sort of constructive & informative discussion as we as subscibers all end up winning if only by knowledge in the end.
Regards & Happy Xmas to all at the forum. nobbyclark

I can only go by my own experiences. I bought a 3 star woods cue about 4 yrs back and used it for over 2 yrs it was excellent. I also owned a Mastercue Heritage which was one of master cues top of the range models. I can only say that in my honest opinion this weichster cue is better than it.
I also had a brand new John Parris Proffesional cue which had the worst looking shaft I have ever seen on a cue. I think he must have fished the piece of ash out of a brook.
You do have to choose wisely but cheap does not always mean rubbish and expensive does not always give you quality.
If you can live with a badge that doesnt have one of the big boys names on then some of these imports represent great value for the money.
If I was to declare that this particular cue was as good or better than a £350 parris pro or a £200+ mastercue I would get shot down in flames on here. But you know what ............

Nobby was that a three star Woods cue you had, from what I have read they are the ones to go for , give the others a miss really, would be interesting to know as I don't think I have heard a bad review of a three star before.

Dear Maverick/itsnoteasy. Firstly I have to agree that some foreign made cues are of good quality. Having owned a 3 star Woods maple and a Connoisseur & a Pro Butt 4 Mastercue I must say that the quality & workmanship is very hard to beat from any cue maker and costituted very good value. But they were bought within the Uk industry as was my past JP Classic red glue model, all having been purchased by sight & discussion not long distance photographic representation. Its impossible to appreciate a cues feel from a photo. My other Woods cue was a 2 star model (I think thats what they call it), and was not fit for firewood until I rebuilt the butt. Mav's point about choosing wisely is obviously correct but how do you do that from photos without extensive enquiries & help from discussions like these. As for the £350+ Parris/Glover/TW etc costing. Surely 1000's of purchasers cannot all be wrong ?
                            Regards nobbyclark

I think it's fair to say that when your paying £50 for a cue your going to be taking a chance...you will inevitably get the odd one or two which will represent great value for money but overall taking into account the amount of work that goes into a cue some of these will be slung together and obviously the finish will suffer. Saying that I would happily play with one if it was half decent. At the end of the day it's a piece of wood and wood in General can be hit or miss no matter how much it costs...
