I have a rather unusual John Parris Traditional cue for sale.
56 1/2"
15 oz
29mm butt
8.5mm tip
16 1/2" balance point
I bought it 12 years ago, it was a snooker cue, 16 oz, 9.5mm tip, 57", 30mm butt. The day after I got it a took the sandpaper to it and took 1mm off the entire length. I wouldn't dream of doing that now must have been the exuberance of youth! I have made plenty of furniture and fine woodwork like jewellery boxes and I did a good job of finishing it. I got a local cue maker to take the ferrule down to 8.5mm which took the cue to 56 3/4".
I used it for 12 years and then back in November it fell over at a pool competition and a rattle appeared in the butt. It went back to John Parris and he found a loose weight which was fixed, he re-ferruled it as the old one was very thin and re-finished the cue also, it feels like new. Unfortunately it took 2 months and during that time I used a 17oz cue, 57" long and since it's return I just can't get used to the weight and it feels short now I have been playing with a longer cue. I have ordered a new cue to the specs of the cue I have been using the last few months and the Parris is up for sale.
It is a lovely cue, Craig Marsh one of the top pool players in the UK loves it and says it is one of the nicest cues he has used for pool. The shaft is unusually dark for ash, I like that a lot and it is part of what attracted me to it. It is dead straight looking down the shaft and has a Mike Wooldridge Super Tip on it.
I'm not quite sure how to take good pictures of a cue, if anyone wants a close up of different shot then let me know.
I just checked on the John Parris website and the lightest the traditional comes in is 16oz which makes mine even more unusual at 15oz. It is £430.80 + £12 to go to an 8.5mm tip and £12 to go to 56 1/2" in length making a total of £454.80
I am keeping the case, I have a solid cardboard tube which I will put inside some plastic pipe for double security when posting.
Open to serious offers.
