When I tried to research this a few years ago I seem to remember that they charge DUTY and VAT. I guess the rule is... if its a small amount pay and if its a large amount query it.

Yep I did a free calculation on the web thingy, and it charges you for the package and the postage added together then works out what you owe.This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
