I think its time you get over this if you are jealous of any profit made by Crispian that's your problem not his! He has stated what they are now please move on and leave it alone.

i have never kept it a secret what i pay for my cues, i will tell any customer who asks, but as i run a business i also intend on making a profit (as any business does) !!!
these cues have always been unfinished blanks that i work on, this work includes straigtening them if needed, re ferruling each and every cue, bedding in the shafts to suit the ferrule size orderd, adding or removing weight to them, extending them at the butt if needed, and altering the taper to the shafts to within 0.1mm every 4" as reqested by many customers, changing butt diamiters and balance points where possible !

on top of this labour you can add the cost of the badges, base joints, tubes to post off in, upkeep of tools, electricity, walking to the post office, the 6 different items that i use on the finish alone, the sandpaper, super glue, filters for my hoover, filters for my extraction, batteries for numouros tools and face masks, the packs of stanley blades, selotape, printer ink, printer paper, late nights booking couriers, followed by waiting around all day quietly tring not to miss the couriers the next day when they come !

90% of cues sold are payed for with paypal so fees are lost, and the postage is also included as stated in the thread !

i can confirm that the £80 is pretty close to what i pay for these cues, but i can assure you that there is not even £100 profit made on these cues once you work out the total costs incured !

Anyway my next thread will be started this coming week where i will post pictures of my work, something that i will ask my lad to do for me as i dont want to spend to many evenings on here

Totally transparent Mr Jones . Very well put in my opinion .

Personally i reckon you should stick 'Handmade ' on them and charge £600 plus ..........no one would know the difference ! Then the one's that were not up to scratch could go on your website under the 'Sin Bin ' section .

But as a man of morals and principles i know you wouldn't do this ..........or just disappear and send all your cues back to the Far East .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

I noticed that Criapian also offers a 100% handmade cue.

At least Crispian has differentiated between his customised , and his handmade, cues.

Something that allegedly can't be said about some other uk cuemakers. :shame:

Sorry to be a stickler Andy, but Crispian has confirmed thats what he pays for them? We've been here before, I don't think there worth £240, but then again what bit of wood is really, but he is being honest and upfront about what they are!

Got lots of respect for both guys who can each turn out excellent quality products. Those Macassar Ebony cues are awasome looking and Ive wanted such a cue for a long time but being on a tight budget ive not been able to justify the spend so have shopped in China and purchased some really nice cues that I could afford.

Knowing they cost about £80 to import then a profit for the buyer who finishes them and icludes a badge etc, then as a customer I would like to think around £180 - £200 including postage would be a fair price I would be prepared to pay and would leave a mark up for the guy providing them.

I base that on the fact you are purchasing with the specs provided and its a little different to having a cue made to your own exact specs.

            I'd take one for £180

I think that you'll find that the price has gone up slightly and with import taxes are over the £110 mark . So think Crispian's prices are very reasonable .

I will carry on pointing out the obvious on Mr Jones posts after what he did to me last year, he now knows he made a mistake accusing me of importing cues and badging them handmade by me, i will only stop when he does the right thing (honest as he is) and admits on here.
If he does you will hear no more from me on this subject

I'll support Andy on this one ... without wishing to re-open old wounds, and if I remember correctly, I believe Crispian Jones's attacks on Andy were shown to be without merit and that a public apology to Andy wouldn't be remiss ...

Having said that, I'd also say to Andy that it's water under the bridge, so probably better just to forget about it - Crispian didn't apologise at the time (he just disappeared from TSF for a while) so he's unlikely to apologise now ... also, in my view, at the time you defended yourself well Andy which only increased your reputation in my eyes ...
