Posting false accusations online without any proof is a serious matter and after a brief chat with a solicitor earlier today he suggested I take action against the forum owner which I intend to do for defamation of character. Saying that because I live in Wales and have the surname Davies (which is the 6th most common surname in the whole of the UK) links me to a scammer called Mervyn or Milton Davies is absolutely ridiculous. Tenby and Swansea are both long distances from where I live and you need identification to open a bank account plus a credit search so the account used by the fraudster is easily traceable.
Maybe a large over reaction imho, many new users have had teething problems and then become valued and respected members.Hope you can get over this and enjoy your time on the forum.

Cheers pat maybe you're right I have accepted the apologies and I don't hold grudges but the part that annoys me is the forum owner should not have posted these things and I think he should remove them because it portrays a negative impression of me.

The whole thread is a little confusing, but im sure it will sort itself out. Im not sure how i would feel in the same position but i hope common sense prevails. If you hang around im sure you will find it is a fun place to be, lots of information and good advice from very helpful members. Happy potting wayne :snooker:

better to be over cautious in this situation / thread than let other people potentially get stung and he sits back and does nowt abut it though....

and he did give wayne the chance to say its not him which should be taken at face value by everyone.

Agree but he did put two and two together and come up with five . Not questioning his good intentions for one minute but i can also put myself in whirlwinds situation .

I did sell the cue for £300 to clintvanjour around 2 weeks ago via PayPal but I gave him a refund due to the hassle to set up a new PayPal account which is why I then agreed to lower my price for collection in person.

Never used PayPal before signed up received payment then showed a pending balance which I couldn't withdraw for 21 days. Also had email from PayPal asking for proof of item sold, postage tracking, photo id and 2 forms of address. Too much hassle in my opinion plus I wasn't comfortable having a company I know absolutely nothing about having my identity.

Does seem silly. Just post the cue to the buyer, then receive either a bank transfer or friends PayPal payment for full amount.
