Great cue. Silly price, especially for a pool cue (56.5) with 8.5mm tip (not much use for snooker). But there are some silly folk out there so I expect it will shift.

        Fine margins, ahem.........

I wish I still played pool to have an excuse to buy an Ultimate pool cue but even an Ultimate is no good reason to play that game again, except in a pub, bored. For which a house bat suffices. Smash em with the £3 house bat and they weep to the bar to get the next pint.

I completely agree. You don't need a fancy cue for pool, not a Parris, TW or MW. My mate played and captained England and he uses a 9mm snooker cue that was about a hundred quid. These are kiddy balls on a kiddy table afterall.

I don't dislike pool and a good pool player has some special skills, like knowing how to cheat properly, when to cheat, how to control the space and clearing the table when the pots are really tricky because you know your opponent can if you miss (at the higher levels). It lacks the skills of snooker and I see no challenge in it. I ran a whole season unbeaten in the league and that was enough. It was good at the time but it's only the same size as a kiddie's xmas snooker table for an 8yr old and the cushions are similar! The tables are generally rank, just bits of ply/chip with a lift-up slate. Cue balls smaller than object balls (a joke) because of the coin/rail mech! I mean, a really important part of the English pool game is predicated by a 50p dropping into a metal box. That's not right! Some of the blokes are bigger than the table, where's the challenge? Now bar billiards.............

If none of you have anything good to say then refrain, I'm actually more interested in a trade, it's a great cue which plays well at snooker I knocked in 87 (wow) with it a few weeks ago, and yeah why shouldn't they cost money you have to wait nigh on 3 years to get one at nearly £1000 anyway ! From those comments I'm guessing your "pub" pool players.

Look Mr '40 odd posts'... Don't come on here giving it the high and mighty and slagging off the chaps who contribute to more than the sales threads...

I have owned a JPU recently... I know what I paid Parris for it and I know what I sold it for...

I do understand (and agree with) the fact that to skip that 3 year waiting time you should pay a slight bump... But im my educated opinion, £1700 is ludicrous x

Firstly, sorry for hijacking your thread a bit mate.

Secondly, no, there are some very good players on here, county standard and above, even some pros.

But the specs ain't ideal for most mate. Let me explain, it's recommended that someone 5'8'' employs a 57" cue and someone 6' needs a 58'' cue. So your cue would be on the limit for someone who is around 5'6'', that's not a big market. Or maybe for someone who likes to short cue or for someone who plays pool. JP himself recommends even longer cues so I guess you told him it was for pool? Or maybe you are a shorter player/

Anyway, it won't be suitable for most players and with a pool sized tip, most snooker players won't touch it, 9mm is generally the limit though of course Dotty and Murpho do go small on tip size it should be mentioned.

If you sell it for 1700 fair enough. But I'd rather order a custom from a good cue maker who will make something as good as a JPU for a lot less than have a pool cue.

No worries. He's not a member so I won't be bring up his name. No offence or distrust intended towards yourself. Just that the internet being the internet, probably not a good idea. But yeah, his cue ain't that expensive and he uses it for both games at the mo. Very good snooker player as well.

I was just intrigued as I know the under 21 Captain and he's just changed his cue from a cheap Rileys cue to something a bit more expensive............

This story was quite prominent around the time of the worlds. Is that result why he's changed Joking aside I know of quite a few pool players who do use better cues including a teammate of G's, he uses a very nice stamford series 1
