I thought it was 10mm because they play on such fast cloths? I swear during the UK the commentators were saying Ali Carter was different because he used a 9.5mm? Could be wrong there though anyone else care to prove me wrong?
is it really? They were definately talkng about carter using a smaller tip than everyone else in the UK, but they werent sure of the size. Maybe he uses 9 instead of 9.5 then. I could have sworn 10 was the standard though. Don't know where i heard that though and ADR probably knows best!
if 9.5mm is the average why is it so hard to find any quality tips in that size i.e wooldridge, tailsman and water buffalo? i can only find elkmaster in 9.5

because everybody buys larger tips and cuts them to fit - read my tip guide.

Yes that's true. Most guys will use a 10mm blue diamond or elkmaster tip glue it cut it down to 9.5mm and then shape it. Mike Wooldridge has an excellent video on retipping. http://www.handmadecues.com/info/30-retipping.htm
You should try and master applying and shaping the tip. I also use a peradon tip shaper to get that ideal dome shape.
