leather case vs aluminum case

can anyone tell me the difference between leather and aluminum case?
does it make any difference in terms of the protection to the cue?
aluminum cases obviously are harder and thus it may be better for traveling abroad, but why are leather cases usually much expensive and more people prefer to buy a leather case?

Have you ever tried buying a leather jacket? Leather is very expensive and this is why the cases command the price it does. Theres also the workmanship that goes into them, some of them are works of art in theyre own right. The reason people like it is because it looks very VERY good. Protection will depend on the case and what you do to it. You can also buy leatherette cases, which cost a fraction of the cost of real leather, but you dont have a heart attack if you scuff it lol!

Rob... I'd go for a light sturdy carbon fibre case myself...
those multi-coloured leather jobs look to be the high-priced scuffed-up drag queens of cue cases.
Plus they scream "It's what's inside that counts. TAKE ME!"

Gien unlimited money I would have a nice wooden case made out of exotic woods. Can't get better than that.

heat? your going far too into it there mate. same as your other thread with that leather thingy over the tip.

your cue should be indoors most of the time somewhere cool so where does heat come into it?

unless you leave it in your car boot or you padlock it to your front gate

I've had both but currently have a cheddar classic. I always felt that with the cue craft aluminum case that i once had was the safest all round option for my cue at the time.

After some time though i wanted a change & went for a cheddar classic & have had it now for 14 years. In that time it's served me well, but inevitably there are now plenty of scuff marks at either end of the case which kinds of spoil it's look..

There are some cheap leather cases on this page. I know a few people that have bought from here and for leather cases they seem quite good, and at a very good price.

Even though I have never owned a leather cue case, the biggest problem has to be that after paying over £100 for some cases, they sometimes get scuffed at the ends, or the leather can get dirty quite easily. Also, the cue may not be as safe than in aluminium cases. It just depends what you prefer. Leather cases are still good but it is also about how much you want to spend.

I love the look of a leather case, but if both are made correctly, they're equally as strong as each other.

aluminium cases are as good as any other, but its nice to have a flash case


I get nervous about scuffing the leather, so i'd prefer aluminium.

As much as i like my cheddar classic i will probably go down the route of getting a aluminum case again.
It's not just that their expensive but i always felt an aluminum case was more durable and lasted just as long as leather one..
