  • Mike Wooldridge Super Tip

On his website, it says that he only sells them in 10mm size, but could I still put one on my cue which has a 9.5mm tip, and then cut it down to size?

Yes that is the common thing to do

It's also much easier fitting a tip that's bigger than your Ferrule as you don't have to get it bang on before the glue sets.

I already have your guide downloaded, coincidentally enough. One of the steps that I never understood was Step 8 - "Now burnish the edge of the tip with a £20 note or a piece of old leather – this will highlight any errors in the filing." What does this mean?

Some people burnish the sides of the tip (it provides a shiny, hard, glossy look) some do it for cosmetic reasons, some do it as they feel it helps the tip to keep shape more easily.

It's not really an important thing to do.

Thanks Dan, the shine on the edge of my tip has always annoyed me, so it is not something I would go after for cosmetics purpose (good job anyway, because I don't have too many £20 notes lying around the place).

The other thing you could do is stick the tip on and not trim it down giving you a slight mushroom tip. But you need to centre the tip befoe the glue sets. I would also suggest using bison superglue rather than tweetens tip cement. I found what a hassle cement is to remove on Wednesday whilst removing a tip from a brand new cue.

Where can i get hold of a mw super tip? Everywhere seems to be sold out i have always used elks but have heard very good things about the super tips, so i am going to give them a try (if i can find some!), i am also considering giving coutts tips a run aswell.

Also i burnish mine with the paper on my chalk, maybe not the best way but it works well for me
