        • have just used another 2 tips. for those that really dont like the initial ping to these tips (when first fitted) try scuffing the bottom of the tip with very abrasive sandpaper. you will maintain the hardness of the tip, it just doesnt appear to ping. plays very well as well. just fitting another 2 an they appear to hold together very well on the 8-9 mm tips that us little table players use. better call stu again for another lot.

          • I tried a Pro Granite tip for the first time last night. I've always used elks and layered tips never really appealed to me so the Pro Granite seemed a worthwhile experiment.

To be fair I didn't expect an awful lot from it. I've read up on tips as much as anyone else and figured that a lot of simple things are made to seem very complicated and overhyped. Generally people will swear by what they use or plan to invest in.

The tip took me 2-3 frames to get comfortable with but once settled they are absolutely phenominal in terms of grip. I could cue smoothly in confidence knowing that I wouldn't miscue on long pots with top spin. Even in and around the black ball area, delicate screws and side was made so so easy given the amount of grip on the cue ball.

What people have said before is true - initially the hit is hard but it beds fairly quickly and improves. It's hard to put into words as once bedded it's still hard but not at all uncompromising.

I'd highly recommend this tip to people who are constantly rummaging through elkmaster boxes checking for firm ones; in terms of hit and feel they are fairly similar. What I get from these that elks couldn't give me is the phenominal grip 100% of the time.

I know that tips along with cues in general can work psychologically and make people feel as though they've made a positive change. For me, just knowing I won't miscue is comfort enough for me to relax and concentrate soley on cueing the shot.

5 stars from me and definitely my tip of choice.

            Quince
