Your bag/box of tricks?

Hey guys, just a quick question. I have seen more and more players in the club with small bags/boxes of all sorts of accessories. Just wondering whats in your bag/box as I am going to try put one together myself

Chalks
Linseed Oil
Cue Wax (Required of using Linseed Oil?)
Microfibre Cloths
Tip file (normal nail file? stainless steel file?)
Tip Pik (Any good?)
Sandpaper (what grades?)
Wirewool (0000 grade?)
Various Tips
Tip Clamp?
Adhesive (Tip cement?)
Bridge maker (various clip on accessories for rests?)

NICE THREAD

well, i carry everything in my case. ill take photos of my cue and case soon!

things i have in my case:

3/4 cue
18inch extension
6 inch minibutt
cue cube (for scuffing)
Super glue (gel)
small towel (wiping cue after playing, i hav dry hands)
GBL tip + tips inside (few elks, few pro granite)
razor blade
rough sand paper
heaps of chalk

thats pretty much it. i find its handy if a retip job is needed. otherwise its just the bare essentials. the cue cube is for american pool cues, but i find it works to either scuff the tip OR take off a thick layer of ur tip, if its a new tip that i want to thin down, since i play with a 9mm tip, but use 10mm tips (trimmed down, it can be quite tall).

i was actually just thinkin abt this b4, like, whether or not ppl carried stuff with them always, more than just the usual chalk n sand paper. like i hav a supply of tips n stuff which seems to be more than what the average person carries. everyone in my club looks at me funny, but think its smart. n my mates tip flew off today, in competition, and i put one on in 5 mins, and it was perfect n ready for playing again. within minutes i had done a tip job for him cause i hav all the tools to! so convenient

ill take photos next week, wen my new cue comes in. n show everyone how i pack it in my case. i cut out foam to store everything in layers in my case

chalk, spare tip, fine sandpaper (for tip only! not cue), superglue gel, cue towel... all in your case not a bag/box!

You really dont want to be slapping oil/wax on in the club, getting it anywhere near the tables. It's something you might do once or twice a year so it makes sense to do it at home?

craft knife
spare tip
emery boards
file
0000 wire wool
gel super glue
few small squares of 2000grit wet & dry

Look forward to the pictures Knox. A very kind guy on here done my tip for me last night and he had a bag of accessories, like you he had my tip done in about 5 minutes ready for play. Would be nice to return the favour to another fellow snooker player should he/she have trouble with their tip. It wont have been the first time I have had a nasty miss cue and damaged the tip which needed a sand/file and I havent had the tools to do the job.

Yes bags and boxes thats what I said so no need to put a question mark after your opening sentence.

Yeah you might well wax/oil your cue at home but did you think perhaps some people might like to keep all their accessories together? Not have wax/oil here, cloths there, other accessories else where.

Thanks mate thats the kinda thing I was on about and have seen others with, wasnt sure just how fine the sandpaper should be, I have grades up to 4000. Im assuming unigrit would be the best paper to use.

I carry some of the above:-

Tip Shaper, File, Chalk, Glue (when I remember!!) plus -

A Bi-Bridge Rest Aid, ideal for those awkward 'rest up to the cushion' type shots... Also an alternative to using the spider sometimes. Also has a thumb fitting - for bridging over a pack of balls...£6.00 from BB Billiards or £3.60 inc. UK postage direct from me cueist@genie.co.uk...:snooker:

I just carry a mirror so I look good at all times.





In all seriousness the only thing I carry in my case is some fine grade sand paper and some slightly more abrasive in case the tip isn't holding chalk very well, I'll only lightly press on the tip with this.

Everything else stays at home.

i bought a recharging nail manicure set from boots for the wife one Christmas...then after looking at all the attachments (grinding stone etc) I quickly found out it was great for shaping tips....

Yeah I used to use my ex's nail file for tip shaping...used to wind her up somet rotten, but at least my cue got the necessary attention!!!
