I made the same mistake . So now i oil my cue and change my tip afterwards . You live and learn
It's not so much of the cost of the tip but rather the amount of effort/time I spent on fitting the tip. Normal tips take me about 30 mins or so but the Talisman...... grrr.
I wouldn't say that I am any good at putting tips on, but why does it take you so long?
Took me quite a long while to trim the edges of the Talisman tip. I've been told not to turn my cue upside down but cut it in a spiral fashion instead. Not sure if I was doing it wrongly or if there's a better way but ye that surely was hard for me lol.

No worries,
You can still do it by turning your cue upside down. But you need to get a fresh blade which is very sharp.
Make sure you cut it in a single stroke rather than slicing it right & left before cutting a bit of the tip.
It usually take me abt 10-15min max retipping even on layered tip.
