Felt that the tip was on the soft side initially when 1st put on but it seasoned to a consistent hardness after a couple of hours. Found it just nice. Good grip on the cue ball and holds chalk well. Easy to screw the cue ball back within my limited range of ability. Easy to cut and shape. Maintains shape well.

    I agree with Barracuda911, I think PQJ's got a winner here.
    Thank you very much.
Yes, your Aurora tip needs some time to bed in. I am happy to hear that you like the hardness of the tip.
Some people might want it a bit firmer and that can be achieved by simply sand down about half to one layer.
The tip should hold its shape very well and last a very long time even with lesser layers.

    • I have received quite a few emails asking for samples. I want to thank you everyone for your interest but I am sorry to say that the sampling was offered back in August and there is no more sample.
You can buy the Aurora snooker tips from Dave Coutts or email me at auroracues at aol dot com.
      Thank you.

        • Would like to know how Aurora's tips played after sometime? My experiences with laminated tips is that they tends to get very hard like rock after few weeks of play. If they maintained the hardness, I might get a few to put it on.

Snookered <==== bad experiences with laminated tips

                  • Aurora tips are the best I've tried so far. They hold their shape very well and they don't need a break in period so nice from the start

                    • Well, after having my Aurora tip on for three weeks,,,,
I can say that it is still performing like it was the day I put it on!
Holds its shape and, like i have said before, quite possibly is THE best tip I have used...ever.

                      • i was about to post the same, barracuda911...

we probably received the tips at around the same time in mid-October... i felt mine needed an hour or so of play for it to bed in and for me to get used to. but once bedded in, it maintains its shape and consistency very well... most importantly, it does not seem to get harder with usage and no need to fuss with it at all... i'm very satisfied with it.

                        well done, PQJ!!

                        • Been using the Aurora tip for about 5 days in a row now and I must say I'm very pleased with it.

                          1. Much easier to trim than most laminated tips, shaping takes a while but that's ok.
                          2. Holds it's shape very well and chalk retention is excellent.
                          3. Very responsive, excellent control. First 2 hrs of play I over-screwed and over-stunned most shots. I've adjusted to that now and require less power to do the same thing.

All in all, possibly the best laminated tip I've used (I've tried most). I've changed the tip on all my cues to an Aurora now.

                          Good work Airin!

                          • It has been about six weeks since I fitted this Aurora tip, so here is an update.
Last week was the first time I had to do any reshapeing, but that was marginal mushrooming and me just being fussy. The tip hasn't seemed to have got much firmer, ( or softer, ) with the chalk retension as good as from day one. The response and feel of this tip is so good and still A1, that I can't see me making a change for the foreseeable future.
Thanks Airin, the Aurora gets my vote.

                              • Hi Airin
sorry to add a negative spin on a good
                                comment thread
as you know I've had a few tips, the sample
you kindly sent me & some I purchaced
                                from you
After putting the sample on one of my
cues and playing with it on it since September
with no probs, I put one on another cue
and started playing with that one
after about a week it started feeling a bit
harder, after a deep screw shot the next
couple of shots didn't feel right and after
a closer look the top two layers had split
away on one side I'll stick a photo on when
                                I can
all the other tips from that batch seem ok
just this particular tip which seemed a little
                                off pretty quickly
As I've said before in this thread I still
think they're a great tip just thought I'd
add my experience of what just seemed
                                to be a rogue tip
                                all the best Mick.
