      • I am still receiving loads of emails asking for free samples. I want to apologize for not being able to offer any more free samples. Thank you so very much for everyone's interest.

I offered sampling back in August for forum members when the Aurora tips were making its debut. Tip samples were also sent out to players such as Steve Davis, Nigel Bonds, Hannah Jones, Reanne Evans...etc. Some have told me they woudl put on the tip after the seassion, and some have tried it and like it. I have received a lot of very construtive feedback from lots of players and for that I am very grateful.

For all thsoe who are interested in the performance of the Aurora tips, there are pages of honest feedback here on TSF for all to read from members who have received them as samples in August or have purchased them from me. I also have quite a few customers who have received a free sample then placed an order.

Sampling was finished in August and I have since sent out about 350 tips (From August to December). I am very sorry I am not sending out free samples anymore. I hope no one would think I am being rude. I have to set a deadline to the sampling of the Aurora tip and it was back in August.

I would like to thank all those who have offered me their valuable feedback and all those who have posted their honest feedback. Much appreciated.

Once again, I am sorry that I am not offering any more free sampling. I hope you can all understand that. I still receive a lot of emails asking me for samples. I try to reply to every email. I really appreciate the interest but the sampling is already over back in August. I am very sorry.

I am offering the Aurora snooker tips at 5 for 35 GBP including worldwide postage until 31 Dec for member here.

Sorry about the long message. I am just trying to politely explain why there is no more free samples and I hope no one would take offence to that.

I am working on a web site on marketing the Aurora tips but it is not ready yet. Hopefully it will be up soon.

Thank you very much for all the interest and feedback.

                • Sadly, I had to cut off my Aurora tip last night. It was like saying goodbye to a good freind. lol
I got 9 weeks of awesome use out of it. I will have to order some from Airin in the new year. But for now, I put on an 'old', but new, blue diamond.
Knocked it in over an hour or so, and I think it will perform quite nicely.
However, from the moment i put on the Aurora, it was excellent. Cannot praise it enough. lol
I do have 1 pro granite left, and if the bd fails to perform for me, the pg comes out to play.
                  Merry Christmas everyone.
Hope Santa visits you, forgive him if he's a bit uptight, remember he only comes once a year.
                  lol

                  • hard tip

How hard is the aurora tip suppose to be. I used elks before and could shoot the diameter of a quarter on the cue ball but now with the aurora less than that. How hard is the aurora tip.

hi cuebru, that's a tough one... but how hard is the tip in your opinion? are you comfortable playing with it... i think that matters most...

                      • Hi Damienlch, people hav put up a address to see a chart of all the different tips but I hav not been able to open it, for some reason can't open alot of the quick time messages. There is a rating for tip hardness but thats all I know. I can't rate anymore than its hard or its soft and hav only used elks which generaly start soft then harden over time and usually last me about 8 months. I like this tip but guess its just frustration that I'm dealing with the inabillaty to draw the ball the way would like to. Can produce more side with this tip its just the power draw that's the problem. Almost replaced it the other day but hav started to see some improvement in drawing the ball. I let Canada's past Senior Champion try it and he said it was hard after misscueing a couple times. Plus Cliff Thorburn even gave me a lesson which helped alot of areas in my game but the ability to draw stayed the same. Hav become good at jumping over the object ball though which doesn't help in snooker. Hav a good and Happy New Year

                        • Hi CueBru,

The Aurora tip is about the same hardness as a Talisman S to a MS hit when you are using it to its full height. If you like it to play firmer you can reduce the height (the number of layers) by sanding it down a bit more.

As I remember you have posted that you have shaped your tip with a very unconventional shape featuring a concave top. I am not sure how you achieved that so it is hard for me to comment on the hardness--usually if you have 3 layers on the side it should be about a S, then if you have only 2 layers it should be about a M and then one layer should give you close to MH.

I remember you have also asked me if you should burnish your tip with an iron (which I strongly adviced against). I know you want to experiment and it is fine but with all due respect I would strongly recommend you to shape your tip to a conventional shape.

In my opinion, the best shape should be a shape with about the same curvature as the cue ball, then you just leave it and let your game shape your tip to a shape which fits your game the best.

Elk is a softer tip than an Aurora tip, and Elk usually compresses more especially in the beginning. The "feel" you get from playing a screw shot with an Elk and most other laminated tips will be different.

The taper, flexibility and density of your shaft coupled with the balance and weight of your cue also play a big part in how "good" your cue is in playing draw shots. Most importantly, it is the cueing action and what you are used to.

When switching to a laminated tip from an Elk some players tend to hit the ball harder because they feel that the tip does not compress as much; while in fact you can hit the ball softer to achieve the same result. Usually trying to hit the ball harder would result in a crooked cueing action (i.e. you can screw back but the pot is not going in.) If you are not getting the ball to come back, then you are likely not hitting low enough in my opinion (perhaps for fear of a miscue?).

Miscueing can also be due to dirty ball/cloth, the surface of the tip getting greasy from being touched with greasy fingers and/or balls/table, the heat of hitting the same shot over and over again at the same spot which can close up the pores on the leather at that spot, bad chalk, not cueing level ...etc.

You can lightly scruff the chalk surface with 600+ grit sand paper (only downward), and then make sure you use some good chalk with a good tip shape to try reduce miscueing. You really should not be miscueing that much. Aurora tips actually hold chalk quite a bit better than most other laminated tips from my personal experience (and it is really not a sales pitch :-)).

If you have any more question, you can email me directly at auroracues@aol.com.

                          Hope this helps.

                          Have a Merry Christmas.
