It is quite obviously second hand info, we dont have any pros here in India
I read it in this very forum so i guess thats the info i would have right?

        read this
        http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board...t=titan&page=2

And I am not promoting this tip I am just curious to play with this tip to see why pros use it if at all they use it

At two pound a throw, I'd like to try them, as regards to what other people post on this forum I think it's unwise to take any thing they say as gosple and I certainly wouldn't repeat it. Hey but thats just me.

Is it a rock hard blue coloured tip made of buffalo hide?
I have seen such a tip, it is rock hard, and I think made in China. The guy who showed me this tip said it was used by Ding. But I never confirmed it. I also did not know the name at the time. It came in a plastic tray. But I did try it, and it was very very hard.

the issue of which tips do certain professionals use is always something we want to know. Just because certain pro's use certain brands of tips doesnt mean that tip will be right for you and your game. Also, earlier this year i was speaking to a professional (who has previously been mentioned in this thread) and we got talking about tips etc. He told me he was using a pro granite tip.

The thing is professionals may try and change to different tips just as much some members do on here, so what they did use doesnt neccessarily mean they are using now.

I've used elks for the last 30 years, I also am currently using a pro granit tip.
I don't use any tip just because a certain pro uses them. But it is sound logic to see what the best players are using and use that as a base for your tip selection. It stands to reason that if its good enough for one of the best pros on the circuit, then its gonna be ok for an average club player. Some posters on here would have you believe that if you put an expensive tip on your cue your game will improve. This is not the case and all tips from the cheapest to the most expensive vary to some degree. I would say it's more important to be able to select the correct tip base on years of experiance. Hence my decision to return to elks. I will try other tips from time to time but for now the most important thing for me is to have faite in whats on the end of my cue

Only tips i have ever used are, Blue Diamond, Elkmaster, Talisman, And have to say that the Talisman are superb. Never liked Blue Diamonds, I found that Elkmaster are inconsistant, With a Talisman you fit it and forget:snooker:

i wasnt accusing anyone you (or anyone) for using a certain tip because a certain pro does im just saying its a common thing. Im only trying to offer some advice from experience thats all...

the pro's have so much more technique than us mere mortals.

this enables them to play with such hard tips..
i tried a talisman soft ages ago and it felt so soft ... like playing with a crispy toasted marshmallow for the tip (sorry for that analogy - but thats the only way i can describe it!) - so i tried a talisman hard - which felt superb straight away but showed my technique up!
soon went back to elks! just hate the playing in time
currently trying the pro granite and it seems pretty good

I have played occasionally with Mike Dunn and he is still using Titan tips but last year he put one on my cue for me and I agree with Adr147, you may as well put a piece of granite on your cue......it was far too hard for me!!

My own opinion is that if two of the best snooker players who have ever lived (Ronnie O'Sullivan and Stephen Hendry) both use elkmaster tips then that is good enough for me. They must have tried out all the other tips available but still use elks. I have spoken to many other top pros and I would say that the majority of them also use elkmaster tips.
