  • Best tip for uk 8ball

Im wanting to put a new tip on my cue as i play alot of uk 8ball any one got any suggestions what to buy something that allows me to generate alot of screw and spin let me know cheers Matt!

I think the cue action and the player does a lot of this.

Some people swear by elkmaster, others like laminated, MW supertips are my favourites.

I would suggest trying them all out and decide which one you like best.

Matt what may feel right for one person may feel terrible for the next , so it,s hard for someone to recommend one as it,s so subjective .

i like Talisman soft but others on here dont like them at all .

Dont have to use paypal but would need a debit card to buy , unless you know somewhere that sells them local .

in my opinion, the best tips be: diamond plus for firm grippy played in tip, Pro granite for a Hard pressed tip that holds chalk well, and aurora tip for laminated.

Simply put,, Mike Wooldridge Super Tips, are by far the best I have used.
Been playing pool for 17 years and I have tried every tip out there.
Blue diamonds/plus, le pro, pro granite, elk master, talisman (S.M.H), Kamui, plus a load of american and japanese laminated pigskin/water buffalo tips.
and of all of these, I have never come across a tip that holds up so well to my style of game (Extremely powerful break, and reliant on side and screw) the tip holds the chalk better and more consistent from shot to shot than any other tip.
Normally because of my break I have found the tip hardens very quickly, get shinny and of course then does not hold the chalk, but with this tip i have found that it stands up to the punishment, and I have to sand or ***** the tip far far less....
Some of my team mates love for me to put Talisman on their cues, but I just couldn't get on with them (sanding all the time and got hard very quickly, even the Soft ones)

Dark green chalk is much better with laminated tips . You dont need to roughen the tip at all with it .

only problem is with softer chalks like Master Dark Green is that they leave more chalk on the ball, causing its own problems.

Yes i agree but it leaves a lot less on the table in fact hardly anything . Swings and roundabouts i suppose .

difference being that the dark green chalk is closer to the baize colour so you will not see it as easily as triangle light green!

So rather than argue this point back and forth, can you answer as to why then that nearly every pro uses triangle light green, what is it about the tweetens stuff that makes nearly all players use it? I think that personally I have been affected by television, seeing all the pros with it and then telling myself that i need it!

Probably because the dark green is like gold dust , and it maybe something the pros may have not really thought about as it was,nt an issue with elks etc .

I was fortunate enough to buy one of the last batches of the dark stuff that i seen available and it it much better on laminated tips than the light stuff .
