Looks like mahogany,in the endgrain.

From what little we can see I would have to agree looks like Mahogany.

It could be anything however such as boxwood or even ply that has been stained.

I cant see any legs jb,perhaps it is just lulling us into a false sense of security.Remember what goes in often doesnt come out (new home for fedia perhaps).On a more serious note there is a dark line similar to that which you would get with staining although I still think mahogany.
