  • Talisman Tip Not Holding chalk.

Hi all, This is my first thread and it is just question on the talisman tip, I recently brought some of these tips off Adr147 on here and am really happy with the way they play. How ever I do find that they are not holding the chalk very well at all and wondered whether anyone has had the same problem with this issue?? I am using the soft version.

    Thx Stefen.

They dont hold the chalk nowhere near as good as pressed tips . Dont let that put you off though as it does,nt effect the way they play . Give it a scuff now n again and it,ll be fine .

Thanks for the reply hotpot, As I said I do like the way they play so will do as you suggest and give it a scuff every so often although a little annoying.

I am using a Talisman Pro M and I found this and wondered if I was doing something wrong. Seems not.
Especially annoying as among their listed benefits are "Holds the chalk much longer." and "Require little maintenance."

          Try this:

Have been using it for 2 years on my Talisman tips and it does the job!

these are pretty good but to be honest a little sand paper once in a while is fine - they don't need a much chalk as some other makes.

What you want is a tip taper - a metal device used when a tip doesn't grip the chalk.

that you 100% don't want. its for changing the shape not breaking the surface - hence the name!

You're wrong here ADR147. This was recommended to me by John Parris himself over the phone when I rang about the exact same problem the OP has. It is 100% NOT for changing the shape!

                      From the Parris Cues website:
"Tap the tip around it’s dome, the
tapers rough surface will pit and
                      roughen the tip without changing
the shape or wearing it down."

I bought this and it hasn't failed me. It might be mis-spelt on the website as Parris referred to it as a tip-tapper. Anyway, this does the job perfectly.

Ive been using the 11mm Talisman soft tip, also bought from ADR. Ive not had any problems, the tip seems to hold the chalk well and they also play very well with a lot of grip. Occasionally i very lightly scuff mine with a piece of sandpaper just to keep the contact area fresh.

Talisman and Kamui tips hold the chalk really well.
Much better compared to compressed tips.

I dont think Tallies or Kamui hold the chalk anywhere near as good as elks , Blue Diamonds , pg , M W .
