  • Different types of ferrules...

I've mostly only used a nylon type ferrule and have no real idea about any of the other types out there, I've had a bit of a hit with brass as well but this was years ago now.

What are the differences between each type of ferrule and the pros and cons of them?

    Nobody knows?

Surely there is a difference or there would only be one type of ferrule.

Some believe that the less mass in the last six inches or so of the cue the less the push off .
For that reason fibre ferrules are better I think.

With snooker cues there is pretty much one type of ferrule, which is brass. There are other materials used but over 95% of snooker cues are made with brass ferrule.
The best way for you to know the difference is to try them yourself. Stainless steel, melamine, phenolic, titanium, ivory, buckhorn, PVC, and many other themoplastic and themoset materials out there for you to choose from.
