  • Which cue oil is smoother

I'm now using cue oil from one of the famous UK cue maker. However, I find it a bit sticky that would anyone has any experience of cue oil that could provide a smooth silky slide over the bridge. Moreover, I prefer it would not darken the cue too much. Thanks for advices.

The best way i found to stop it feeling sticky is to buff buff and more buffing with a cue towel .

I don't know what you are using but I doubt it's the oil.

You're leaving too much on the cue.

Use very thin coats leaving absolutely no residue.

Then buff it up once dry.

        It will not be sticky

Beeswax will make your cue sticky, so good luck going down that route.

          Which cue oil is smoother

Hi, I use mike wooldridge cue oil. I find that the more sessions I have the better the cue gets. At the moment it is super smooth! Although the first couple of times using the cue I did have to buff it a few times between shots but that might of been down to incorrect application as mike has said. Anyway in my opinion it is the best oil on the market and my cue is smoother now then when I brought it from John paris.

It's more about the way its done rather than the type of oil used and also the existing finish thats already on the cue, which can make a big difference in how things turn out.

Use alcohol to take away the applied cue oil but this would leave your cue raw. After that apply your cue oil using a cotton bud and wipe away the excess. Leave it to dry for like 30 mins - 1 hour then buff it.

Bee wax is not really that recommended because it would be sticky.

it's not the oil it's you - more coats but thinner is the trick. beeswax is really for people who know what they are doing because it is is a tricky product to use.

I just use a dry clean cloth or paper towell, cotton bud will leave bits in the wet oil

I had no issue with that. I just dip it in once then apply on the shaft in a quick motion and wipe off the excess.

I would think that cotton bud could absorb and apply too much oil. But all to their own

Thanks but I have some reservation to use alcohol as not sure if it would do any harm to the shaft. I have tried rub it with damp cloth and then a clean dry cloth but have not yet played with it after that and therefore not sure if it would become tacky again after several frames.
