  • Joe Porper tip trimmer

Had the Joe Porper mushroom grazer / tip trimmer for a while but never used it until i put a new Kamui on this week .
Have to say the tool is excellent for trimming hard tips and is so precise and effortless . The design of it and the way the blade is situated means you can trim the bottom of the tip flush to the ferrule whilst leaving the rest of the tip untouched to form a perfect mushroom tip .

You can also trim tips flush to the ferrule easily and accurately . A big thumbs up only downside is the blades seem only to be available fron USA so the shipping is quite expensive .

yep, always like the look of them.
I notice that most UK suppliers (that I know of) are out of stock currently.

I think its beter to set it to minimum and take off a little at a time for the blade to last longer .

I have one and been using it for quite a while now, on pressed tips and laminated.

The cutting part can take a bit longer but the sides are in much better nick when you're done so finishing and burnishing the tip is a doddle afterwards.

I really like it, excellent wee cutting tool.

Just chanced upon this thread. For a trimmer, I would say its rather expensive.

Hotpot, may I know where did you got yours from? Ebays are selling these at USD18.

I agree it is rather expensive but its a brill tool as its design means you can shave just about any part of the tip . Think i bought mine from

Good thinking mate if you have a wet/oil stone these would be pretty easy to sharpen.....
