Ok. No reply from Saluc on their tips. I think I might have to ask the Mrs to call them in their language.

My spruce chalk arrived today from JOERACKEM (USA EBAY) only took three days from the states to the uk, outstanding...

Here is a photo of 3 different colours of Triangle Green chalk. Notice the top one is lighter and I believe this is fake stuff I picked up somewhere. The second one is normal Green purchased from a Tweeten retail outlet here in Canada and the third is the Spruce I just recently got from the USA.

I'm using the Spruce now and I can't see any chalk marks on the table after a day's practice and also it seems to grip the tip better but that could be my imagination or else the superior quality of the tips I'm using.

It's not your imagination, it grips every tip better, particularly laminates. The funny thing to do, is go back to light green after a while, and you'll flip, thinking, this is so annoying, why doesn't it cover easily, why do I have to chalk the cue half a dozen times when just one swipe was enough with spruce!?

Tried the spruce for a session at the club. People are whinging about it leaving marks on the cue ball as opposed to the standard light green chalk.

That being said it does cover much better than the light green.

Is that one of the new tips you received from tweeten? As i want something a little harder than an elk master, not sure what would be best to try..? Have you played with a buffalo made by tweetens would that be harder?

Just got a piece (kindly sent to me by PP) yesterday and went out for a couple of hours of solo practice.
Got to say that the spruce does go on the tip much nicer than the green, good coverage with less swipes.
I had to stop myself doing too many sipes which over the years I have gotten into with using the green.
Then hitting the cue ball and memories flooded back from all those years ago when spruce was available, the sound was great, a solid "dunk" instead of "dink" with the green. I have been changing tips thinking they were at fault
The grip of the cue ball is better, in my opinion and I enjoyed every shot I played last night.
I enjoyed it so much, I bought "the company" - well, not really but I have ordered a dozen

                  cheers PP
                  cheers all

The fake stuff is much more grittier than the original . Try and play a few delicate touch holding shots and you will soon find out its fake

I did not notice any marks on the cue ball or the baize after 2hrs.

The spruce I'm using is a Master, not Triangle. Could by why.......

I've brought some masters ones but haven't had chance to try them out yet. Hopefully they don't mark, as brought masters ones so my mates don't pinch them, as they all use triangle. I thought the masters and triangle where the same.

According to the experts (Tweeten) Master Chalk of any colour is made specifically for US Pool which generally have larger tips and less power shots than snooker.

Tweeten Green is especially made for snooker and they also said the Spruce is the best of their Green, which comes in the normal green, the slightly dark Spruce and the darker again Forest, all of which are available however I would suspect the darkest Forest might be visible on the cueball.

For certain the Spruce does not show on either the cloth or the cueball as far as I could see, although my facility has low humidity so in a humid climate you might see some chalk on the cueball.
