No more Kamui tips

Been using Kamui m/h for around a year now and find them perfect for my game and cue but i have had so many crack and all in the same place that i.ve decided i,m not going to use them again , such a shame as i like them so much but just cant justify paying £10 for the use i get out of them .

Its time to come back to the fold mate and put an elk on.......at least if you get a rubbish one its only cost about 30p........and even better if you get a good one its only cost 30p.......a win win ;-)

I've heard some say that the phoenix tips are basically the same tip and although I've not tried a kamui I do use a phoenix and have tried them on all of my cues and I really like them. Got a lot more confidence in getting consistant reaction out of the cueball that I never feel with an Elk and I've used elks for the past 15 years or more. I know you said on another thread that you had some de-laminate but that was possibly down to a bad batch. I know I won't be switching back to Elks unless something happens with the quality of these phoenix but I plan on buying a box of 50 soon so they last me a good few years.

I have used phoenix tips...they are lovely. Nice feel to them and I find they really grip the cue ball. Had 2 kamui's and both split on me

im the same as mrbluejay new had a problem with them, could it be down to how they are fitted?

They all split after a few miss cues playing with bottom . Nothing to do with how they are fitted , i think slow tables where you have to hit the balls hard quite a lot may have something to do with it , pheraps they are just not up to the constant pounding .

Have you tried just the medium black ones hotpot, i've not had any probs with the last couple i've fitted and prefer them over soft tallys. Not tried the medium hard ones myself, are they much harder? i did order a phoenix but they look a lot shorter in height to me as kamuis, and i want a tip that will last the max amount of time.

The phoenix are a quality tip IMO..tried Kamui and the same happened to me, split after about 10 frames. Never had a bad phoenix yet.

I've had 2 phoenix tips and both have delaminated, i have a 'm' and an 's' left at home and will give them one last try on my new cue when it arrives. if not i will go back to MW pressed tips.

Just out of interest where did you buy the phoenix from....I get mine from Craftsman and never had any bother with them....Could it be down to the way your putting them on/finishing them???

lol yes must be the dodgy source :-)

I trim them as i would a pressed tip cutting down towards the tip end with the cue upside down, i think this must reduce their life span.
