For those of you who discard chalk when the paper wears out try wrappinng the bottom and sides neatly with clear cellotape and it keeps it nice and new for a lot longer , usually i change a block after a week or two but doing this i,m still on the same block after two weeks and it still looks new .

Chalk lasts a long time if you actually chalk properly...
People that just Jam it on the end and twist really bug me, make a giant hole in the centre and waste half the Chalk.
Just look at the block, light strokes in the direction of the least worn side
My last chalk I stopped using when it was about 1mm thick, it actually snapped in half because there wasn't enough left.
Oh and masking tape is the daddy of replacement chalk wrappersLast edited by RGCirencester; 3 February 2013, 12:04 AM.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

chalk lasts me a fair old time, even when i was playing every day, once a lump got half way down i'd leave it on the table as casual players always turn up with no chalk.
funny how we spend hundreds on hand made cues and cases and silly money on laminated tips but get thrifty on a 15p lump of chalk
