  • Case Care

    Hi

I have just taken delivery of a wonderful cue case from Stamford Cuemakers. Was wondering if there are recommendations of things I can use or steps I can take to maintain the look and quality of the leather, especially in rainy weather.

    Thanks.

Wouldn't be taking a nice quality leather case out in the rain !!
I use a clear liquid polish on my North Wales case

had mines for a couple of years now and the one thing i would have to say is get something done to protect the ends of your case, mines all scuffed to hell now and looks tatty as hell.
i have went to a couple of local furniture upholsters and asked if they could do something like having studs fitted round the ends? kind of things you see in old leather sofas.
my mates got a old cheddar classic case with this done and it works a treat, unfortunately both the shops i went to were not overly keen and i was not convinced in them being up to doing it right, my mate had is done down south so i have just left mine its in the club most of the time anyway lol

Bloody annoying with no end protectors . My North Wales is not looking too good either .

Getting a one piece cue soon , so need a new case and Stamford are top of my list . Hopefully they may add these as an option in the near future .

Glover used to do it on their cases , so would like to think that others' could do it as well .

Post some pics of your case please Jono
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Have a look at the Greenbeize cases with their lovely brass end protectors. All cases should have these.

I can't remember exactly who buy I think it was Jim Evans who had brass end protectors on his north wales cases. I asked Lewis of stamford if he could add them as extras but he just said that if the cases are looked after properly they will last a long time. Pity, as I thought the end protectors would help a lot. Mainly because I carry my case around walking to the nearby club and often put one end on the floor when I'm waiting for traffic lights....

i did look in to buying the end protectors (or getting them made) but it would mean getting a batch of 5,000 pieces made up in china,
with a cost of around £2,500 plus import tax !
with 8 needed on each case that would be over 600 cases need making to use them, its just not a good investment to be fair, so i would agree with what lewis has said

Got 2 sets of brass corner protectors from Stu earlyer this week, for my 2 peradon leather cases, cost me £50 with free p&p.
It saves me having horrible scruffed ends! and they look great

I also got some corner protectors from Stu Green (Green Baize) after about a year of asking
these are great, and do fit well on my case from Snooker Warrior but will not fit on all cases so beware, I think (Crispian please correct if wrong) most Crispian cases the ends are more-rounded (due to the construction) and these corner protectors wont fit.
                    Up the TSF! :snooker:

How do they fit on? Is it difficult to do?

correct mate, they would not fit on my cases, ive thought of squaring the corners of my cases, but due to the leather i use
this is not an option, so i either get my own brass corner protectors made or change to thiner leather ?

as said, brass screws comes with them, but I took a bit longer as I did some pre-holes so not to stress the little screws
