I'd say you might get a strange noise like a loose ferrule if it isn't glued 100%, but you'll soon learn and be able to put a tip on with no problems whatsoever...

the air bubbles beneath the tip will cause a weird sound.

scraping the top of the cue to remove all the old tip and glue is very important in making sure a new tip lies flat with the ferule.
