    talisman tips

    umm interesting post.

I feel i should be allowed to comment firstly because i know most of the posters (i wonder if thats the right term!) personally and secondly because i sell thousends of them!

there have been some interesting points made and i wanted to put a few comments down for you to consider.

1 tips are very much a personal choice thing and there is no right or wrong and no better or worse. whatever you like is best for you.

2 although talisman tips are much more consistant than elks etc i would be prepared to bet that i could select in the way that trevor described earlier from those aswell. the question is though, can joe public?

3 how well a tip has been fitted is more likely to effect your game than the tip itself!

4 why should the fact that ronnie o'sullivan and john higgins use talisman tips mean they will suit you? firstly the one ronnie uses is like glueing half a marble to the end of your cue and i would advise against that unless you can play the way he does - which you can't! and secondly why would a professional snooker player know anyway, they clearly have the same mental issues as the rest of us otherwise they would not change cues and tips etc the way they do !!

5 once you find a tip you like stick with it - ditto with cues while on the subject.

6 a talisman will last about a year. a well fitted elkmaster will last a couple of months on average. (for me and i play a lot) a badly fitted one might not last the night! the need to replace them so often i have found is usually because the player is cueing badly and destroying them rather than because of the tips.

7 mike wooldridges tips, like everything to do with mike, are overpriced. but again if you like them stick with them. each to their own.

i have used all the talismans in the range and find that they are quite good once bedded in, i have used the mike wooldridge tip now for months and months and i would never change back to anything else, i have only had one bad one out of about 20.

Like what ADR147 said i think its personal preference and theres no right of wrong answer

Which mike wooldridge tip do you use? The supertip or the laminated ones?

Just the normal supertip, i have tried the laminated tips and find that i miscue and they dont hold the chalk very well.

Has anyone tried the Kamuri tip?

i have tried the kamui tips and am so far not impressed like a talisman but without the build quality and they are much more expensive.

Triangle tips are made by Tweeten Co. Same company who made elk master cue tips.

are you sure - although tweetens are from chicago i would be very suprised if the tips were not imported. laminated tips are expensive to make and nearly all are made in the far east.

yes - they are very hard but the biggest problem with them is they are red and it somehow does not click in my brain that a tip should be red!

ADR147, do you sell Talisman Pro tips size 10mm?
I'd prefer soft as well I think, as I've always played with Blue Diamonds which as I understand are generally a bit softer.
From what everyone has said I'm now really curious to see for myself!

lol i have the soft ones in 11mm - everybody buys 11mm as they do not make smaller and when i asked them to do it they were not to the same standard! they are easy enough to fit send me your e-mail and i will forward you my tip guide or you can download it elsewhere on this site.
